We already have the Dreamcast , next comes psx2 later this year, then xbox (as it's officialy now known not x-box) in 2001 and then the gamecube (release date for Euorope to be confirmed). But what I ask is which one of these will lead the way. The Dreamcast being a fine machine with some great games-DOA 2,RE:code veronica and Soul calibur- (shen mue coming in december is going to be a major plus for sega) is already tripping over its own feet with developers leaving it for dead and being written off by so many, i myself think it's capable of holding its own. The psx2 is the new console its great features are it has psx 1 compatability and plays DVD's(the european DVD player has been improved incase you didn't know) and some spectacular titles including tekken tag and ridge racer V. The psx2 though has been causing problems with the media (in case you didn't know the American media is accusing sony of deliberatly causing shortages to cause a rush for potential buyers to get theirs first), developers complaining of costs of making games and the recent news that Munche's odessye has been dropped for psx2 in favour of xbox. We then have the xbox, Bill gate's first stab at the console market. This is going to be the most powerful machine with some of the best graphics yet and with gate's financial backing this poses a threat to the other companies. This machine is being released next year but there is alot of speculation over the cost of this machine and many of the games being PC portovers. This again is hampered by development costs. Finally the gamecube, not too much is known about this machine. Of what i do know is that it aims to proclaim itself as a gaming machine not a multimedia one (ala psx2) though a DVD compatible gamecube will be released by panasonic some time after the originals release. The gamecube is designed to give developers a hell of an easier time and reducing development costs (it now uses 1.5GB mini discs). The video's at spaceworld were phenomenal and one of the memory cards can hold a whopping 64MB of data. The drawback? the release date still has to be officially announced for europe. what i would like to hear from everyone is their opinions of who will win the battle between sega and sony at christmas? what you think the best machine will be and why? what the future holds for these next gen consoles and their respective companies?
No Nintendo are not lazy, the Dreamcast is perfectly okay.
But gamecube will come, full on with developers, great games and a YES it will come out.

it will be same as the current generation.
ps2 will be the most sucessful because there are loads of developers and of the psx.
gamecube will be the same as the n64 best games but cause nintendo are too lazy to market it (like sony) and it is already branded as a kiddy-machine (even though it is not out yet!)
