How much has gaming changed in the last few years? It appears to be quite a lot...

Gaming has become so mainstream that game adverts can be seen in cinemas, on TV and in a whole host of magazines continually. Meanwhile Microsoft have been so impressed by the amount of money generated by the industry that they've been getting in on the act too.

For the first time in a while we actually have decent competition in the console manufacturing sector. This has led to great leaps in technologies- like online gaming and handheld link ups, as well as making manufacturers pump money into game developers for exclusive games like Halo.

Oh, and what about the games? Better graphics, sound and plots have been mixed with more diversity (cell shading), originality and innovation.

But has anything actually changed?

Games development remains very on-track: better graphics are paramount. Despite the masses of original games, they still have poor sales in the face of sequals and licences.

Technological advancements haven't been realised. Not a single online games is available for the Xbox, PS2 or GC, and handheld linkup gaming hasn't even begun.

So all that's changed is the competition... but than again, how does that change anything at all?

Ok, so that was the lamest topic I've written... possibly ever! (I was called off to do a tour of the school for a visitor halfway through)...

But for bonus points, answer this simple question!
Where does the title of the topic come from? (It's an adaptation)

The only thing that's changed is that there's now THREE sets of drooling fanboys.
