If you don't know who David Beckham is then there is something seriously wrong with your physical and mental health! I suggest that if you don't know who he he is, you should arrange and immediate appointment with your local GP, and maybe even consider commitment into a Mental Institute!!

Everyone knows 'Becks'!
Whether you're male or female, if football or fashion is your thing, or even if you've read through just one newspaper in the last 3 months, you'll recognise the face and come to realise the man that goes with the name 'David Beckham'.

Despite all other interests and all those other things he does, Beckham has grabbed attention world-wide for his footballing talents - at his club Manchester United week-in week-out, and for his country England, whenever duty calls.
He's also a growing name in other areas too. We all see the Brylcream adverts that allowed him to play around with his growing hair, we all read about that 'skirt wearing' incident and laughed, and ontop of all that and more, he's married to none other than Posh Spice Victoria, another big-name star - even if she does 'wear the trousers' in the Beckham household (aka. Beckingham Palace)!

Is there anything else that could possibly give him a bigger name except even more money!!

David Beckham is like one in a million for his footbal career so far. To put it in lamens terms, he's had a career full of unique features and events that have made it one quite unlike anyone elses, something for other players to reflect on and say "I wish that was me!"
Let's take a look at some of the main events shall we...

Incase you can't recognise it through that sqeaky high voice of his, David's a cockney - a boy from Leytonstone in fact. During his early-teenage years he was grabbing attention from football-heads all round with an early TV appearence, giving him the chance to show-off his juggling skills and more. Later on in his early life, he was given the chance to train with Spurs as a 'trainee' believe it or not. Terry Venables' side were a lot closer to home that the team in his heart - Manchester United.
And before he knew it, Old Trafford scouts had swooped in for the kill, and little Beckham was soon on his way to signing a dream deal at Old Trafford.

It only took him a few years into the 1990's to establish himself in the United side - mainly thanks to his free kicks and corners that have helped to make him the star he is today.
On day 1 of the 1996/97 season, Beckham 'popped-to-the-top' with THAT pint-point accurate lob of Neil Sullivan that made him a halfway-line villain amongst the Selhurts Park faithfull! It was this goal that REALLY started to get the rumours going and the people talking about that young no.10 who was to have a huge future ahead of him.
England caps were soon to follow. The newly-appointed Glenn Hoddle recognised the United midfielder and was soon on his way to preparing him for France '98 - and we all know what sadly happened there!
Where would England be now if it wasn't for Hoddle!

THAT Red Card given out by THAT referee against THAT team not only ended Beckham's and England's World Cup dream of '98, but was also set to give young David an nightmare experience when he arrived back home to meet and greet with the 'welcoming' fans.
With the taunting and jeers that he recieved back then, any player may have gone as far as to consider the worst - especially 'Whigning Anelka'!

But the young lad was able to put it all behind him like a proffesional, and justice was done by the summer of '99.
His childhood United dreams came true as he and Roy Keane and co. had liften not one, not even two, but THREE major trophies in order to complete 'The Treble'! Thanks to Beckham's hard work and persistant efforts throughout this long, hard-working season, United had finally achieved what they had been wishing for, and Alex Ferguson was on his way to Buckingham Palace to be knighted by the Queen.
Many people today are speculating today as to wether or not Mr.Beckham deserves to be known as 'Sir' or not for his recent heroics.

After a dissapointing Euro 2000 where England failed to shine under Kevin Keegan, and season after season of United winning the league (except the odd one or two) we come to today - and we all know about England in Jap-Korea! Thanks to Beckham's 44th minute strike, we beat the Argies!!
And it's thanks to the leadership skills that Sven-Goran Eriksson has discovered that England have got so far and could still go-on further!!
Again, where would we be without Golden Balls!

As you can see, this has been one heck of a career for one incredible player - and he's English too! Not only has he lived up to and succeeded all expectations surrounding him, he's also overcome the taunts and critisism he recieved after the summer of '98, and proven that he is far from the opposite of being 'England's Most Hated Man'.
When you look at what he's done for us over the last year or so, you'll see why he MAY deserve to be knighted - and still at the tender age of 26!!
If there's one player our youngsters should be looking upto, it's Beckham!
Anyone can learn a lot from his career so-far - and i'm sure he'll have many more surprises to come during the years to come.

I think he's 27 now but good post still.

And where did Fergie send him on loan and then recall him after 5 matches to the first team?

Answers on a postcard.....

Yeah, I really should've included that! :(

The only goal he scored at Preston was a Penalty - and maybe that had some significance to the one he scored the other day!!

Who knows....

And 26/27... does it really matter that much??
I knew he was somewhere JUST over 25, and the point I was trying to make was that he's still a relatively young player to have experienced and done so much for both club and country.

Beckham scored a free kick at Preston as well.

Fergie only sent him there because he was soft going into tackles. The experience hardened him up.

Wasn't that in the 1995-96 season too???

All I can remember is that is wasn't all that long before he scored that unbelievable goal against Wimbledon.

that was his second season in the first team - his first full season. I was expecting him to shine, and he did.

Oh, don't forget the notorious mispelling of his name on his shirt in that wimbledon game. "Beckam" anyone?

Beckham came on loan to North End and scored two in five games.

Therefore it could be said that playing for North End shaped him into the player he is today! :-)
