After ITV Digital has left many clubs in money trouble, how does everyone think this will affect the league next season?

In my opinion I feel that the clubs which have been more conservative with their cash over the past few seasons will be in a better position to be promoted.

For example, Preston were counting on the ITV money to build their last stand at Deepdale but as they will now not recieve as much, they are leaving it. However, they are not in severe financial trouble like a lot of clubs so I see their chances of promotion to the Premier League increasing this season. The main reason for this is that they will be in the minority of teams who have money to buy new players rather than having to reduce their squad.

Yeah, I agree. I think the situation has been overplayed by a lot of people. Brighton have just been the go-ahead to start building a £44m 22,000 seater stadium, and they were in Div 3 and looked like going out of business not much more than 5 years ago.

Sure, some clubs who gambled big will suffer, but there will always be someone to come along and bail them out.

Bradford went into administration, not because they were in financial trouble, but because they wanted to cancel contracts. They couldn't normally, but after going into administration they could cancel all their expensive contracts. The club will come out of administration in a strong position, and will probably be back in the Prem in less than two seasons, (look out for Kearney and Standing, their two youngsters in midfield to run their campaign).

ITV Digital was a bad idea, but it won't be the end of English football, people are too passionate about it.

It could have already wrecked the next season for me. Im a Sheff Wed fan, and i think its well known that we were already 18 million pounds in debt before this new crisis even occured. We were already finding it hard to come up with any cash to bring in new players that were good enough for the size of the club, and so we have been relying on cheap or free lower league players. Still im amazed we found the money for Shefki Kuqi.

Anyway, with all this ITV thing going on, things are looking very grim for us. Our chairmen is certain that the club will survive this and that we can get through it without having to see the club close, which is good, but this leaves us staring relegation in the face again before the season has even started. We just have no money to spend on players, all we are getting is players on bosman frees, and all the good ones are going to other clubs that can secure a good future for them. So in the end all we are getting are Division 3 players looking to prove themselves, which just isnt good enough.

Theres no excitment here anymore, signing these players isnt making people buy season tickets, we have a 40,000 capacity stadium, and we are only just getting above 20,000. Money isnt coming in because the team we have isnt giving us what we want to see.

If we had this money from the TV rights that we were suppose to get then we could maybe afford to give some players the money they want, we were after the likes of Greenachre, but as we cant give him his demands he will be of to the likes of smaller clubs like Millwall as they have good players, and the fact is we dont anymore, and cant afford the ones we want.

Things are looking bleak for us, and its the same for many other teams.

The real problems are for the clubs that have signed players on high wage, long term contracts, which, now they wont be getting the money from ITV digital means they cannot afford to pay there players.

Clubs such as Preston, which earmarked it for other projects are in a far better position as it was far easier to pull out of these commitments.

This sort of thing has happend in Italy too.
