This has been talked about a few times before and many of the same ideas have come up, mainly suggesting that the game includes more little features that just add that little bit more of real life to it. Some of them could be done, and some of these ideas probably will be in the new GTA. However the online ideas might not be for some time to come, maybe someday, but i would not count on it being a PS2 game. PC maybe more suited to this, after all it is the home of online gaming and with GTA 3 selling well on it there sure to sell a few copies. I dont think the PS2 is that advanced for it yet though, certainly not the online gaming side of things anyway.
It may not have as much feedom as GTA3, but it has a fully mapped, realistic, real London city.
You can go in and out of buildings (certain ones but still!) a selection of cars to use, and they look absolutely real too, not forgetting the cops and people, they also look real with layers for clothing and facial mapping... looks like Jordan covered in chocolate mmmmmmmm....

That has happened so I would expect that in the next edition we will see many more improvements. How far can it go though?
