Right, I want to set my Xbox up so I can have surround sound.

I know nothing about this, so I want to know:

What do I have to buy to take full advantage of Xbox Dolby Surround Sound Thingy 5.1.3 Whatever, and how much (roughly) will I have to spend?

Cheers.

Yep that system will give you 5.1 surround sound. You will also need an Advanced Scart lead for the Xbox if you havent got one. And possibly a Optical lead if the Sound System doesnt come with one.

It's all pretty simple really, I got mine working today.

I suppose the best thing to do is buy a package that has the amplifier and speakers. Then you can't go wrong. I bought a Yamaha RX-V396RDS (amplifier) and NS-P220 (speakers) set from currys. It had been reduced because it's the end of the line clearence. Only £209.99 for a top quality kit. But I doubt anywhere will have them anymore, we had to search 3 stores to find one.

But like I said, buy a kit, and you can't really go wrong. Just plug and play. Unless, off course, you want to spend more, and you think you know enough about this sort of thing....:S

If you have a Pro Logic TV then just set the sound setting in the dash board for Surround sound.

5.1 needs an external decoder and a set of 5 speakers and a Sub. A decoder and a set of speakers can be pretty cheap, well £100. You can spend alot more but £100-150 would be ok. You must then make sure that the 5.1 system you buy has an Optical out connection, if it doesnt then I dont think you can use it with the Xbox. Then you need the Advanced Scart lead as that has the Optical input connection. So hook up the Optical lead to the Xbox and 5.1 system and then change the settings in the dash board.
