It's funny how many situations most people find themselves in, and how most of these situations somehow leave a mark in their lives. Well, one of these situations happens to have had an effect on me. This is the very reason why I bring this topic to your attention.

Music plays a huge role in controlling people's emotions towards one another, but it's not always used for for love and affection(hubba hubba). It's sometimes just there for creating an atmosphere in games, movies and other forms of media entertainment. What role music plays in games is my main concern and hopefully yours - ENJOY!

Games over the years have always had music in them because it always helps to have an atmosphere. In game music has revolutionised, from simple rythmical bleeps to fantastic works of art, so here comes my round up of games that have produced true musical brilliance. Here are "the chosen ones"!

--- GTA3 ---

No surprise or debates here then because 'Grand Theft Auto III' has to be one of the most endulging games ever made that also includes realistic modern-day music. The list goes from Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop and all the way to Opera. Absolutely ingenius! This game is so realistic that it doesn't play music when your patrolling your surroundings - in other words- when you're out of your vehicle. But once you're in your vehicle you have the choice of several Radio Stations, each giving a totally realistic and fun atmosphere to the game. As well as giving you total freedom of your surroundings, GTA3 gives you pleasurable music we can all relate to. Being a long game to complete, it's not long until GTA3 becomes a singalong and it's not long until one song pops up that you really like. If you've played it you're my witness!

--- Parappa the Rappa ---

I had no choice but to choose this little star, but I think it's one of the best music games to be made with some truly funky tunes to rap to. Never before has tapping buttons been more meaningful and fun! If you're a rythmical person, who like getting down with beats then you'll absolutely adore this game. It's funky, slick and easy to play. What more can you want? Parappa the Rappa is well coool when it comes to offering a great msucial experience in a game. It may not be popular with many people because the characters are 2D, but give it a chance and you'll love it in no time!

--- Deus Ex ---

This game can be made into a movie because of its storyline and music. When it comes to creating the perfect atmosphere for a first person shooter, it has never been presented better. Roam around quietly and you'll be given calm, soothing music with still the hint of suspense, but get caught into the action and you'll have fast, sudden music that gets your veins jumping. It's brilliant! A great storyline always helps make music more presentable in a game, that may be the reason why I rate it so highly! However, Deus Ex still remains a classic!

--- MGS2 ---

Another perfect example of a game that could and should be a movie, not necessarily for its "weird" storyline, but definitely for its musical brilliance. On Kojima's DVD that comes with the game, he explained how he got a music producer that produced the music in one of his favourite films. MGS2 is great because it has trademark music that crops up all the way through the game. When you are in certain areas, trying not to be seen, calm music plays that gives the exploring atmosphere - looking for useful items and so on - but once the enemy is on the alert tension is made my the jurky music that sort of makes you jumpy, and strangely scared in a way! It's one of those games that annoys you when you get caught, not making you want to play it again. Nevertheless, it remains brilliant. Just listen to the music between cutscenes and you'll be stunned at how well it's presented and blends in with the in game atmosphere! Certainly a game to be appreciated!

--- Star Wars (ALL OF THEM) ---

All the Star Wars games have had the same effect on us. They always make us want to play more. It's not just because of how well it plays and looks or how good the storyline is, the music also plays a big part. Creating a good atmosphere for a game has proven to be a difficult task developers have had to take on and definitely for a game of Star Wars quality. It's all action, so what do we get? The usual! Fast, jumpy music that is! It's great though because it adds to how well you rate the game. Without its musical works of art, Star Wars wouldn't be the same!

--- Max Payne ---

This was definitely one of my best games of the year. It demanded style, precision and obviously your attention, but it offered a fantastic set of characters, storyline and movie-like music! In certain parts of the game where you have to take on certain boss-like characters as well as taking on matrix-style moves Max Payne plays matrix-style music that makes you more interested in the game. It has a dark atmosphere which is further portrayed by an even darker theme tune, which in some ways appears rather spooky! This game is great and the fight scenes make it even better, with the help of the music of course!

Looking back at all these games I've played made me wonder what life would be like without music. Would we all be cricket-loving zombies rather than the enthusiasts we are now? Would the Queen's jubilee party been as frantic as it was (lol)? Probably not!

#Thank Abba for the music#

#..for giving it to me!#
