Hi, anyone have any reccomendations on which motherboard and processor to upgrade to. At the moment I'm running a 500Mhz Celeron and as a result cannot play GTA3. I mainly use my computer for games and I'm looking to spend in the region of £230. I saw this Athlon XP 1800+ 1.53Ghz SoA for around a £100. Do you know if these are better than P3/P4 for games? Any motherboard suggestions?

Thanks

My last setup was XP1800+ asus a7v133 motherboard 1 ghz pc133 sdram, and that rig will still have a place in my heart and it did me good, i put my pc's through a lot with all the overclocking and keeping it on 24/7 using 100% cpu all the time and it never went down (apart from windows, but that isnt supprising).

The cpu still runs at 266mhz but if you want the whole motherboard to run at 266 you will need to go ddr, but true the a7v133 is getting old but it is a good motherboard for sdram.

I wouldnt advise the A7V 133, its getting old now, and only runs at 133 where as most processors run at 266, so dont get the full clock speed.

Which of these is your shop AMD_MAN?

I knew you were on here to try and sell your stuff right from when you started babbling on about water cooling. Shameless display.

I'd just like to change my reccomendation from the K7S5A to K7S6A which only supports DDR sticks but can take 1.5Gb of memory. It's just better apparently. Costs ~£60.
