My Freeserve half-price offer ends this month, and I'm disappointed with the service, so I'm going to change ISPs when it's over. I want to know what good deals are on offer. I've heard good things from Vispa, but I want to know answers to the following questions about it:

a) How many attempts does it normally take to connect to the net with it?
b) Can you pay with a credit card?
c) If I switch to Vispa, is it still possible for me to access my Freeserve E-Mail address?

Also, are there any better ISPs around for £14.99? I look in the direction of Rob for an answer :)

I have two ISPs, which I have to use at different times in the day, which is really annoying, but I find them quite good, except for datanet. So why not try them for yourself:

Supanet
a) 1 attempt
b) Yes you can
c) I don't think so

Hm. That is a bit disappointing. I will definately go over that limit, as my girlfriend uses it a lot when I'm not here.

Small thing to check with isps before you sign up now and that is their "fair usage policy" and see if its acceptable for you. Just looked at Vispa, they basically allow you 180 hrs a month connection time (6 hrs a day), dunno if thats enough for you. :)

Are you in an ADSL area? If so I'd go for that over dial-up, even ultra-reliable, unmetered dial-up. The price difference these days is only a tenner a month, and it's well worth it.

90ms!? Bloody hell! I normally get 270ms with cack Freeserve. I'm signing up in a few weeks, when my Freeserve offer ends. Thanks again mate.

I can't see why not, never tried though. I can ping all the usual CS servers, and any that pass through my IRC conversations.

Mmm... 120ms pings on average.. 90ms frequently to Io.

First time nearly always, have had to try up to 3 times before around 8 o'clock, but extremely rarely. They also installed more swicthes a week ago.

Switch, Mastercard, all the usual suspects.

c) If I switch to Vispa, is it still possible for me to access my Freeserve E-Mail address?

Of course. Just set your POP3 servers to pop.freeserve.net and SMTP to mail.vispa.[com|net]
