Hopefully anyone reading this is at least as far as having read Star by Star in this series. Otherwise you might want to look away.
OK, I like this series, but I'm starting to have a few issues with it. Obviously, it's well known now that Lucas told R.A Salvatore to kill off a main character, leading to Chewbacca's death. Fair enough. But the most promising character for some years (Anakin Solo) is just dropped as well in a later book, an almost needless death, getting hacked down by a horde of vong. I'm pretty annoyed at that, since he's been developing into a strong character, and a decent lead against the vong, especially given his experience in "Edge of Victory pt I". But no, snuffed.
There seems to be a bit of disagreement between some of the authors as well. Salvatore introducing Mara's virus, only for the virus to be completely dismissed by a miracle cure in a later book is one example. Another is every Jedi available feeling the death of Jacen Solo, only for him now to be suspected alive.
Hmmm. I forsee Anakin jumping up from the grave, and Jacen coming back to life as well. Just as well. Star by Star was a wonderful way of killing off the majority of the younger cast, the people who are supposed to come out the heroes of the new series a few books down the line.
Bah, maybe i'm just grumpy.

I've read the books of Star Wars (by George Lucas) and Empire (by some other guy) but never any of the books set after the trilogy
