Maybe it's time that Sony, Nintendo and Sega started to put aside some money to start tempting these big names back to their formats.
That's something Microsoft don't really have to worry too much about as a company. I used to believe that Bill Gates' dominance over the software industry was a good thing, with everyone getting the same software interface thereby making computer communication on a worldwide scale 'a good thing', but now that it has come to games I am not so sure. I think I prefer the competitiveness of the market as it stands now.
Any chance of some more details please? So we can advertise it on the Website.
Cheers
The club is thinking of running a few weekendend breaks to carp fisheries, and would like to know if anyone would be interested before any plans are made!!
When the SNES was around, I wasn't impressed with its games as much as I was with the Megadrive, so am more partial to SEGA than Nintendo. Having said this, with PS mucking about so much recently, I was looking at the DC as a replacement, until I got my hands on the PS2. I am now totally biased towards the PS2, but I try very hard not to let it show in my posts.
My point is, Microsoft have enough money to bring lots of developers under its wing, and although it doesn't make sense for a company to develop exclusively for one console, old Billy Gates can make it financially worthwhile should he wish to do so, whereas the other 3 manufacturers can't. In the future, I see Nintendo being the biggest rival to the X-Box, it has the advantage in that it is exclusively a Games console manufacturer (so does Sega, but they just haven't got the clout, in my humble opinion, not yet anyway.) Sony is too diversified now, they did a great job with the original PS, but seem to have brought out a hybrid in the PS2, a kind of conglomeration of all its other products in one item. The PS2 is excellent for playing games on, the games are the best I've ever seen to date, but 5 years down the line I can see an X-Box in its place, if not sooner.
