Sven Goran Erikson is the new England manager - from July 1st.

Could it get any worse! He has signed a five year contract with the FA and I can't see anything changing there decision to sign him. All I can say is that since he's here, I hope they give a bit longer than the last few. He may lose some games but he should not get kicked out for it. I hope that now he is here he lasts at least 3 years of his contract, and preferably for the whole five or more years.
I am a total patriot and I do get rather emotional about the beautiful game, so naturally i would have prefered an Englishman, but the fact of the matter is that there is no decent football manager in Britain who will take the job.
Also I hope he starts afresh with the team, and gets some of the very talented youngsters like J.Cole and S.Gerrard in amongst the likes of Beckham and Owen, so in a few years, maybe for the 2004 Euro championchips, we have a half decent team. I can see how many people would hava a go at Erikson if we don't qualify for the world cup, but I feel that if we have to sacrifice the world cup for the sake of the English game, it would be small price to play.
So please, please don't have a go at Erikson, let him live out his contract and sort out the grim picture of English football as it is now, into a glittering path of glory.

I was hoping that it wouldnt be a foriegner to take over, but saying that I cant think of any Englishman who would be worthy of the job. Erikson has a pretty good track record but we will have to wait and see what he can do for England. I wish him all the best and hope that he does well for the sake of the FA.
