I'm skeptical of the X-Box because in the past the most-powerful console has never won, or I missed something.

In the last generation the Saturn was first out, it was twice as powerful as the SNES and had some good games, a month later the Playstation arrived and was of a similar technical standard, but had far more games and so won through volume. Several months later the N64 arrived, twice as powerful as the competition, but limited games and lack of support due to cartridges meant that Nintendo's market share of the home console market fell from about 70% to around 20%, but the N64 outlived the Saturn, and so it was a 4 year fight beween the two, with neither side losing or gaining that much.

In this generation the Dreamcast was released first, good graphics and games, but Sega's reputation was dented from the Saturn's failure and so it was forgotten so the previous generation dominated it. Then the PS2 was released, similar situation to the Saturn vs PS1 situation, but with more Support for Sony, and a huge back catalogue of games. The next was the GC, first released in Japn to muted sales, mainly due to the proximity to the tragic events of last year, although sales have picked up, this one is the second-most powerful console, so it is in the position of the Playstation, especially concerning the support and software. Last is the X-Box, it is the most powerful although there isn't as much in it as before, and its the new kid, the lack of fans and not being known for consoles, as well as the possibility that Microsoft as it exists may not exist in six months, may contribute to the downfall of the X-Box.

Right, so far you have 2 examples to prove your point. The N64 which failed because it was delayed, came out late, and was ndersupported, and the GAME GEAR, which failed because it wasn't portable (battery life was 6 hours).

How either of these relate to the Xbox is beyond me?

Most cases? The only case you name is the N64!

Your other 2 examples, the DC and Saturn, were the least powerful of their generations (Saturn came out approx at the same time and with the same power as the PSX, and the DC was the first of the PS2 generation)/

errrr... that doesn't really prove anything...

All you've said is that, last time around, the N64 didn't do too well. But then again, the Saturn failed too.

So, surely, this time the PS2 and the Xbox will fail, and the middle PS2 will succeed?
