LAST WEEK ON ECLIPSE…
(Highlights from SRW Eclipse 19/5/02)
“Jericho off the ropes again, he goes for the clothesline on Benoit, but Benoit ducks and takes Jericho’s arm down to the mat, CRIPPLER CROSSFACE!!! At the same time Scott Steiner has locked on the Steiner recliner on Cactus Jack! Both men are struggling to get to the ropes! Who will tap out first?!?...and...and...and Jericho is tapping, but so is Cactus Jack! British Bulldog calls for the bell!!!
Howard Finkel looks confused in the direction of The Bulldog, who goes over to explain what happened. “Ladies and gentlemen, both men submitted at the same time. Therefore, your joint winners of the match and new number one contenders, Chris Benoit (Grandprix) AND Scott Steiner (MikeAll)!”
------------------------------
As a consequence of last weeks events, when, in the Fatal Fourway for the No.1 Contendership, Chris Benoit and Steiner each made Jericho (Figo) and a debuting Cactus Jack (RM18) submit simultaneously, making them both No.1 Contenders, and the SRW Title match at the PPV a Triple Threat match! But to tonight’s events first, where as the fallout of that match starts to effect, Benoit (Grandprix) will be taking on Scott Steiner (MikeAll) here tonight! And to spice things up even more, there will be a special guest referee…SRW Champion Kevin Nash!
Howard Finkel gets on the mic. And introducing, your special guest referee for this match up, the Special Reserve Wrestling Champion…Kevin Nash (Allardini)! Nash struts to the ring in a black and white referee’s top, title belt in hand! He takes his time getting in the ring, and for some reason grabs the mic from Finkel’s hand!
Nash starts to speak. “I just want to say a few words before this match. I gotta admit I’m not used to this, and to be totally honest with you I prefer kicking butt to counting three. But this match is an exception, and I want to get one thing straight. I was booked in this match as referee, and I’m gonna referee this match properly and straight down the line. But if there is any, and I mean ANY funny business I’ll kic…call for the bell. Ok?” Nash hands the mic and his title to Finkel. It seems Nash (Allardini) is taking his refereeing duties seriously!
The crowd start to go quiet as they await the competitors. Finkel gets back on the mic. “This match is scheduled for one fall! Our first competitor, weighing in at 235lbs, from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Chris Benoit! “Shooter” hits and Benoit makes his way down the ramp to a thunderous reception! He clambers into the ring and stares at Nash, who, in an effort to referee this match fair and square, goes to shake his hand! Benoit looks him in the eye again and declines, turning to lean against the ropes, waiting for his opponent.
“And now his opponent! Weighing in at 276lbs, from Bay City, Michigan, Scott Steiner (MikeAll)!“ The siren rings around the arena, as Steiner struts to the ring, Midajah just behind him, to another huge ovation from the fans! And what an impact Steiner has made since joining SRW! In his first match he became the joint No.1 contender for the SRW Title, and that’s one quick rise of the ladder! But only time will tell if he can pull it off tonight…
Nash goes to shake Steiner’s hand, and he accepts! Nash and Steiner shake hands to the vehement disgust of Benoit. Nash officially starts the match…DING DING DING! Left hand by Benoit (Grandprix)! Right hand by Steiner (MikeAll)! They exchange a furious flurry of punches, knocking the steam out of each other! Benoit gets the upper hand on Steiner, punching him to the ropes. Irish whip by Steiner, shooting Benoit to the ropes, and a shoulder block by Steiner, knocking Benoit to the canvas. Benoit gets to his feet quickly but another takedown by Steiner! Steiner lands a series of kneedrops and locks in a reverse chinlock. But Benoit manages to power back up to his feet and responds with a jawjacker! What impact! Benoit seems to be switching the momentum of this match around. The Rabid Wolverine lands a boot to the midsection of Steiner and hits a snap Suplex!
Steiner (MikeAll) is down and looking a little disorientated. Benoit (Grandprix) picks him up, and hits another suplex. He runs the ropes…elbow drop! He goes for the pin, Nash drops to the canvas…1…shoulder up from Steiner. Benoit again takes the initiative and picks Steiner up again, Irish whips him into the ropes, goes for the clothesline, but Steiner ducks, they hit the ropes again…clothesline by Steiner! This will give him some time to catch his breath, and boy does he need it! Midajah looks on, clapping, as Steiner recovers. What’s Steiner doing? He’s taking off the protective cover from the turnbuckle, exposing the cold, hard steel underneath, and Nash isn’t doing anything! What was that handshake all about at the beginning then?
Benoit recovers and gets to his feet, but is hit by a barrage of body punches from Steiner! The crowd cheer as punch after devastating punch connects with Benoit’s body. Oh, no…Steiner goes for the Irish whip into the unprotected turnbuckle, propelling Benoit into the steel, but he escapes! Benoit managed to change momentum and slide out of the ring, much to the derision of the expecting crowd! While Benoit is on the outside, Steiner looks at Nash, who simply shrugs his shoulder! Steiner slides out of the ring…and a takedown! He picks up Benoit, and Irish whips him right into the steel steps…CRASH! Benoit’s body collided with those steel steps. Steiner picks up the broken top half of those steel steps and goes to hit Benoit with them…BUT BENOIT KICKS STEINER IN THE GUT, CAUSING THE STEPS TO FALL ON STEINER!
The crowd sigh, what an impact! As Steiner (MikeAll) held the steel steps above his had, Benoit (Grandprix) managed to summon the strength and kick him, causing Steiner to lose his footing as the steps fell onto his own head! Nash is on the outside of the ring looking on, he doesn’t seem to bothered about the pain they are enduring! Benoit looks to have gained the advantage now, Steiner still recovering. Benoit picks up a steel chair, and again Nash (Allardini) makes no effort to stop him. CRACK! The steel chair comes down on Steiner’s back! CRACK! CRACK! And on his head…CRACK! Did you hear the thud of steel on skull, what a chairshot to the cranium!
Steiner is slumped on the floor, as Benoit looks at his broken body, and turns and looks at Kevin Nash, pointing to Steiner’s body and then at him! Benoit throws the chair in the ring, and picks up a broken Steiner and pushes him into the ring. He goes for the cover…1…2…kick out! Steiner somehow managed to summon the strength to kick out! Nash separates the two, allowing Steiner to get to his feet. They look at each other, and start exchanging punches once more. Steiner gets the advantage…Powerslam! But he doesn’t go for the pin, I think he wants revenge for earlier and wants to administer more pain. He picks up Benoit and hits a scoop slam!
Benoit (Grandprix) groggily gets to is feet as Steiner taunts him. Steiner (MikeAll) has picked up the steel chair! He goes to hit Benoit, and lays him out with a vicious chair shot, right in the face! He goes to hit him again, but Steiner punches the chair into Benoit’s face! SMACK! Both men are dazed. Benoit takes him out with a kick to the midsection…DDT! WHAT A DDT! He goes for the pin…1…2…SHOULDER UP! Benoit goes over to Nash (Allardini) by that turnbuckle and starts complaining, he thinks that was a bit of a slow count!
Steiner, in all the commotion, has got back on his feet and is ready to charge at Benoit! Nash is pointing at the ramp to Benoit, gesturing where he should go. Steiner charges at Benoit…BUT BENOIT MOVES OUT OF THE WAY. STEINER JUST BARGED INTO KEVIN NASH, KNOCKING HIS HEAD INTO THE EXPOSED TURNBUCKLE!! My God, I think Nash is busted open and out cold, lying on the canvas! Steiner swaggers backwards to the centre of the ring, Benoit grabs his arm…AND DRAGS HIM RIGHT INTO THE CRIPPLER CROSSFACE…AND…AND…STEINER IS TAPPING! STEINER IS TAPPING!!
BUT NASH IS OUT COLD! Nash can’t call for the bell as he hasn’t seen Steiner tap! Benoit tightens the hold for a few more seconds, and seriously annoyed breaks the hold as he goes to Nash (Allardini), trying to wake him up! Benoit shakes Nash and Nash starts to come to, blood dripping down his face from the turnbuckle hit. Benoit gets up, but so does Steiner and Benoit walks right into a FRANKENSTEINER! FRANKERNSTEINER TO BENOIT! He goes for the cover…Nash has moved gradually over and counts……….1………..….2……...……3!!!!
Scott Steiner (MikeAll) has defeated Chris Benoit (Grandprix), but Benoit had the match won! Benoit lies prone in the ring as Steiner celebrates in the ring. He saunters over to the special referee, Kevin Nash (Allardini) and Nash shakes his hand andraises his hand in the air, but…JACKNIFE POWERBOMB TO STEINER!! NASH JUST GAVE STEINER A JACKNIFE POWERBOMB!! Steiner thought Nash was on his side, but the SRW champion showed that he’s on nobody’s side, laying out Steiner with a devastating Jacknife Powerbomb! My God what’s going to happen at the PPV between these three! Nash walks up the ramp, trying to stop the blood dripping, title in hand, as Benoit and Steiner lay battered and beaten in the middle of the ring!! What on earth is going to happen at the PPV when these three meet!!!
Thanks for reading!

I didn't want Nash to have that much of an influence in the match because I didn't want it to detract from the actual triple threat match.
Instead I wanted to tease a Nash/Steiner coalition in the match, so Benoit lost, and the finisher on Steiner at the end was a way of building up to the match. Why are you annoyed? I thought I could choose who wins and a Steiner win benefitted me from a storyline point of view.
I can see allardini as Nash struggling to defend his title again against these two guys...
As for the Nash as referee, I tried to tease a pseudo-alliance wuth Steiner in the match, but then had Nash do his finisher on him at the end to set up the triple threat PPV match.
Thanks for the comments as well. :)
Some may advise you to make your paragraphs just a little bit smaller, but the match was still very good. Action packed and entertaining.
Nash seems to be causing a lot of bother in the non- CAW area of SRW.
