Why is it that, amongst all other supprters supporting their nation in a match, there are many Japenese/Korean people supporting a different team to their own.

I watched the Germany match yesterday and there were the normal German fans and a few Japenese/Korean wearing German colour face paints and hats etc. The same went for Saudi, I bet they never even been there.

It's not just those teams though, I saw it in other matches.

What did they do before the World Cup? Did they like put all the teams in a hat and pick one out or something and then quickly load up their palmtop computer to check out where it is in the world via the internet?

It must be quite funny just before the match and during the match for the fans actually from the country. There would be all these tag alongs going like "GERMANY! GERMANY!" in some Banzai accent.

If their chosen team drops out they'll just choose another one and then we'll get to the final with the same guy support a team in that who was supporting Nigeria earlier on in the tournament. They all look alike so I wouldn't be able to tell anyway. Maybe I'm being a little harsh there?

Keep an eye out in that England game for some. There will be some, for both sides.

Mr.Migtywotta changed his mind, he's supporting Spain now so hes going to their match instead of England's after trying to order a quick 24-hour delivery Spain shirt from some website.

Indeed, tis true... I really respect the fact that there are Japanese football fans doing that, I think it really says something about elements of our own culture.

Football is MASSIVE in Japan, and as general football fans, rather than specifically Japanese football fans, they are taking advantage of the world cup being hosted in their country. I know if the World Cup was staged here, I'd go to any match I could get tickets for. And frankly, even if you're going to watch a World Cup match between two random countries, you'd still support one of the teams.

Have you seen Japan and Korea play ?? You'd hide your face in face paint and cheer another country too ! ;-)) Mind you, Nakata is a great player.

Yeah, I noticed that too.

There are Japanese and Koreans at the game on right now between Paraguay and South Africa on both sides.
