Are we ready or are we not?
Im sure that it is the question that is on everyone's minds at the moment?
I know its on mine..
If we win, the press will make us out to be the best team in the world let alone in the world cup and we will apparently win the world cup easy.
and if we lose?
No doubt there will be a major uproar between England Fans and various supporters over in Asia, the press will question Sven's ability and the player's he picked...
We all have a team we think should play tomorrow, and question marks will be asked if we fail against Sweden,
No doubt the whole nation will put their hope upon David Beckham et al. but what happens if they fail to deliver, will Becks & Co still be the darlings of England or will they be tormented by the press hounded by the disgraceful chants when they come back home?
The Squad is not only a fairly young one but also inexperienced...some of the players have only been playing in the senior squad for a relatively short time and may find themselves outplayed by the worlds finest, some of them are pointed out below:
Owen Hargreaves
Great talent, plays his club football at Bayern Munich and has played against some of the best players in the world and has played very well, plays in the holding role and can break up attacks, however he was only been playing for the England recently or when Gerrad was not playing and im surprised no youth scout for England never spotted him a long time ago, but the fact remains that he was in when the world cup squad was announced. Howevevr, has he had enough time to blend in with the midfield? He has played very well against teams in the friendly games, but we will have to wait and see what he’s like against the big name players.
Joe Cole
Joe Cole is an exceptional talent, he was branded the new Gazza when he came on the scene at West Ham and another bright star for the future and possibly the answer to our problems on the left side of midfield?
He does have his off days and can get robbed off the ball because of his 'light' build; this is purely down to his inexperience because he has never been brought into the setup by any of the previous managers. If the mistakes continue against the likes of Argentina and France, we will be paying for it. Yet another young and bright player for the future, will no doubt come back to England hounded because of mistakes, if he does do any.
Vassell
Some people branded him the 'one goal wonder' for that overhead kick he scored, but I think that was a bit unfair, he reminds me a bit like Dwight York, someone with some skill, opens up defences and a great goal scoring touch, again he’s one for the future but will he able to open up teams like Italy who have one of the best defences in the world today, and hopefully he'll be picking up some of David Beckham's long passes. Again he's not been apart of the England set-up for long, but will be asked to spearhead the attack and bring the cup home, if he fails to score the goals we need, the 'one goal wonder' chant will be very much appreciated by the press.
Danny Mills
Danny mills, what more can I say about him that hasn’t been already mentioned by many people, he’s a good player, not great but good, he will have to keep his temperament down, most importantly how many times has he actually played for England? Gary Neville is a major loss to the right back position, and I think many people will use this side to try and exploit us, I know a certain gooner ‘Freddie’ of Sweden will fancy his chances.
The player’s I have just described, may or may not be stars of the future but do we rely on them to come of age too soon?
Other examples currently in the Senior England Squad are:
Ashley Cole,
Wayne Bridge
Wes Brown
Dyer
What im trying to explain is that whatever happens in this World Cup...
England now have some of the best young players and can become a great team in the future, we have a strong Backbone with Rio Ferdinand, Gerrad & Owen, backed up with Beckham, Scholes, Cambell & Owen.
So I ask the fans, the press and critics and the lets not spoil a potentially excellant team..remember they are young, talented and will deliver, if not now then in the future.
We must get behind them through thick and thin, if we don't do well this time, let it be a learning curve to our players, I for one will be backing them all the way, and here's to the a great beginning...
The Future's Bright -----> the Future's England.
this is a good way to nuture players, but we shouldnt get carried away and think that they will win, but no doubt the critics will be out there pinpointed the failures rather than the successes.
The reason why i think that, is we have had such bad luck before we had even got started and it is about time we had some good luck
So come on ENGLAND!!!!
C'mon England!
