OK, we've all had our conversations about who would win the World Cup. But that's not important. What is important is who would win a football match between video games characters and superheroes from films. Here's my take on the situation:

Superheroes
---------------------

Goalkeeper - Who better to keep the ball out of the net, than Spider-man. All he'd need to do is make his own web across the face of goal. Of course, if you hit the ball hard enough it might cross the line before springing back, the linesman is gonna have to be on his toes!

Defenders - The Incredible Hulk, the rock of the defence. Not many people are gonna get past this guy. Its gonna take you five minutes to run round him!
Blade - a quick, but surprisingly strong defender, not afraid of spilling a bit of blood on the pitch!
Batman - an uncompromising player, tends not to play as well under spotlights, but a good sportsman
Rocky - the Tony Adams of the team, this guy will keep going forever, no matter what pain he's going through, a real captain.

Midfielders - Wolverine, the "hard man" in the middle of the pitch, don't expect him to chicken out on any challenges!
Superman - flying down the wing, not many people are gonna be able to catch this guy, got great vision too!
Obi-Wan Kenobi - the playmaker, uncanny knack of spotting his players runs, always seems to be in the right place at the right time!
Shaft - sometimes looks like he's too cool for the game, Shaft doesn't run around too much, prefering to look cool, strutting his stuff, but beware, this guy'll kill you if you give him the chance,

Strikers - Neo, this acrobatic player always seems to have time on the ball, and in the air is almost unbeatable.
Conan the Barbarian - the "big man" up front, this guy has amazing strength for hold-up play.

Video Game Stars
-----------------------------
Goalkeeper - Dhalsim, although perhaps his reflexes aren't the best, this guy is imperious on crosses, and has a great reach.

Defenders - E Honda, although not the quickest anymore, Honda is an imposing player to try to get past, take rations with you!
Tony Hawk - not too great on grass, but put this guy on a synthetic pitch and you've got problems!
King - an imposing presence in the centre of defence, this guy is surprisingly quick for such a big guy. Watch out for the ultimate tackles!
Lara Croft, an agile and strong defender, looks good whilst still being efficient.

Midfielders - Sonic the Hedgehog, possibly the quickest winger in the game, if this guy gets past you, you won't catch him up! Can tend to get his head down a bit though.
Luigi and Mario, some say these guys are too small to play central midfield, but they have a great understanding, quick feet, keep going all games, and bely their stature with great jumping.
Ray-Man, the teams playmaker, even trying to man mark this guy doesn't work, he seems to glide through players!

Strikers - Raiden, has the ability all good strikers possess of being in the right place at the right time.
Guile - another acrobatic forward, good upperbody strength. Watch out for the overhead kick!
