I haven't played FF4, 5 , and 6 yet and I was wondering what are they like, what are the story lines like and are they any good? Are they like FF7 (very futuristic) or like FF9?

Out of the Final Fantasy games I have played I would say FF7 was the best followed by FF10, then FF8, and finally FF9.

Which are your best Final Fantasy games?

Which should I buy first FF4 & 5 or FF6?

Let me know what you think, thanks.

Final Fantasy 6, in my opinion, is the best FF. You obviously have to disregard the graphics, but the story and gameplay is excellent. For 10 quid, it's the best purchase an FF fan could make. I believe that this game was the biggest jump up in quality over the series. There are loads of extras - like an interactive opera scene, auctions, Street Fighter-esque special moves, I played it for 50 hours before I managed to get the legendary broad sword in the colluseium.
FF 4 is a great game too. The characters stand out in this episode as the outstanding feature. You get to go to the moon and explore a vast underworld. The handle I use, Tellah, is a forgetful wizard in this FF - who remembers his spells as the game progresses. The tagline I use is an example of the poor Englishese translations, which actually add a quirky feel to the game.
I first played those games on the SNES about 9 or 10 years ago I think. So maybe I've got a bit of rose-tinted glasses going on, but I've recently aquired FF5, which wasn't available outside of Japan until last year! I've started playing it, and I think it's as good as the others (only 3 hours in though).

Anyway! I recommend you pick up FF Anthology and FF Chronicals on import and get playing! I really want to get hold on Chronicals - because I never got to play Breath of Fire first time round.

Well I've only paly about an hour of ff6 because of my exams and I'm taking my time to appreciate it. I haven't got ff4,5 or 10 yet so I don't get distracted. I think that you may find 4,5,6 will be a bit..old but only in terms of graphics. Everyone who loves FF shouldn't dislike 4,5,6 just because of the graphics. FF is FF. Better ask people who have played them a bit more than me as my exams wont finish till 25th June.
