It's a story. Read at leisure.

The wind was sharp. I could feel it jabbing into my skin as I stood there, wondering. You seemed so near, but yet, so far. And the more I thought I could touch you the less chance there was that I would ever see you. Your eyes were all that was left as you disappeared, without trace, and I still tried to hold on. But I had to let go, Sara, I’m so sorry. I had to let go. I had to find the Holy Ring. And Shaul, her father.

Morning had arrived and I woke up with the sun shining right through my window. The previous night remained with me. I felt cold. Even though the sun was out in all its glory, I felt so, so cold. The thin blanket covering me was wearing away and I could do nothing but hope it lasted another few days so I had time to scavenge for a new one. It seemed like the sun was beaming in vain for me, as no amount of light could bring me hope. It was all over, and there was nothing I could do about it, nothing that anyone could do. Yet I toiled on, but for what reason? I had lost her, and now Leo, a once grand and proud man, had fallen, to me, and my level. And when will she come back? Is she gone, forever? How can I find the Holy Ring. All I knew was that it was near hubdeux

I had to do something. As day dragged on I packed up the few belongings I had and made my way out on to the streets of Hurer, a suburb of Eutopia. I trekked for miles over the suburb, and then I reached the hubun, my exit and my decision point. Do I give up hope and go back to being Leo, pitiful scum, or do I fight for her, find her, and make my way back to her? The choice was simple. I sneaked onto the back of the plane and it jetted off, we me as the extra baggage. I left the dingy, wet suburbs, the varying degrees of wealth and poorness and the poor life in search of a better one. And that life would be all wasted, unless I found Sara again.

The journey was, to say the least, eventful. I could hear rain battering down on the plane from time to time, but I was very worried when one of the pilots came down into the cargo bay. Then a plane guard came down as well. I hid, but I couldn’t see very well as it was dark, so I had to be very lucky to avoid them. The torch the pilot was holding got ever closer. I wiped my forehead, as I was sweating. The thought of being caught, hidden in the cargo was enough for police to think you were insane, nowadays, so silence was imperative. I heard them mutter to each other, then walk off. I was safe, for now.

The plane landed, at the Heaven Gate, the air entrance to the grand city Phoenix, one of the biggest places in world. As I shot down the cargo shoot one of the guards noticed me. I had to run, and run fast. I hopped onto one of the cargo trains destined for Ocean Gate and managed to escape. But it was too close, and now all authorities knew about me. I was going to have to be careful.

I arrived at Ocean Gate, but had to get a train into city. The Urban Gate was the footpath into the hubdeux. I tried to look as inconspicuous as possible but when you looked like I did it’s fairly difficult. Night was approaching, so I went to a seedy hostel and found cheap shelter. That was all my money gone.

Next morning, it was raining. I was told by another down-and-out that it always rained on the Urban Gate Path. I carried on, getting very wet and very cold, very quickly. I finally, now soaked to the bone, reached my location. A huge sign was overhead.

WELCOME TO THE HUB

At last, I thought. I should find her. And maybe when I do, it’ll be like last time. Or as it was, the last time. The Holy Ring will help me.

I was wandering the parts of the Hub when a man approached me. I couldn’t see his face as he wore a hood. He gave off an aura that I’d felt before but no amount of thinking could remind me what from. He spoke in a dull tone.

“You’ll not find it in time, yet go to the Destiny Temple if you are still determined.” he muttered.

I wondered what he meant, because it surely couldn’t be what I was there for. How could he know about the Holy Ring? Or even Sara? He seemed like he knew everything about me. The, he took down his hood. It was nightmarish, and everything stopped. I just stared, and he left. The world regained consciousness, and I realised who it was.

The veil of secrecy that surrounded Shaul was so thick that noone had ever even asked him his name. I was the only existing person that knew. And if he had no hope in my mission, how would I succeed? The Holy Ring seemed to be impossible item to retrieve and I could see her face. It was being covered by the mist. And although my goal was covered in mist, by path was being unveiled. The Temple I must go.

The hubdeux was so dark at night. Not like in Hurer, where it was just ‘dark’, but a dark which could make the bravest man be scared. Noone ventured out. Just complete silence. Everyone stayed in one place. Colonies from different races in one bar, and other race in another bar. They wouldn’t talk, or move from their place. The streets were empty. It was quite safe outside. Except for the Stalkers. If they found you, life was over. But apart from that, I thought, the chances of me arriving were quite good. But getting this Holy Ring was so important. I made my way through the streets, and avoided 3 Stalkers on my journey. Then I reached the Temple. Or more exact, the font of the temple. Only the must determined could enter.

My first challenge was the Garden of Hope. A huge maze designed by the Temple Elders. And Stalkers loomed throughout. I winded my way through, and at one point, I was chased, yet I still made it. But some did not, and even though it was a Garden of Hope, it would appear some who entered had none, and their fate decided before they entered.
I made it through.

The Myter Fountain was next. Chie built it with her own hands. It was a huge structure with water spouting from 4 huge chambers, each rising a level. I saw the entrance to the Temple at the 4 spout, and as it seemed like a simple challenge, being stairs, I started to climb. As my feet both touched the 1st spout, water gushed out and I fell back to the ground. This time I was prepared. I went to the first spout. The water came again. I crouched and avoided the water. The 2nd step was closing in. I lifted my leg to catch it but it went 360 degrees round the central spout supporting pillar and knocked me to step 1. I crouched, yet no water came. Spout 2 came round again. I jumped on, and it sped it up. If I didn’t get to stair 3 soon I’d be a goner, as I was pretty high now. I turned backwards and jumped when spout 3 got close. I landed on the 3rd spout. It started to move round in one direction, then another. And to make it worse, spikes started to rise from the ground. I saw step 4 floating in mid air. I made a huge jump off spout 3 to reach it. I landed just on. It hovered over to the Temple. I had done it. Sara, I’ll be there.

The Temple was looming. The massive doors opened and I walked in. I couldn’t believe my eyes.

“Shaul!!! How did you get in here?” I shouted. It was such I feat for me, I couldn’t believe an old man like him could do it.

“I have my ways. Here, take the Ring” he said.

I strode over to him. He turned to the stand behind him and started chanting. I tried to put my hand in but a force stopped me. I looked closer. It wasn’t a ring! It was long!

“Havoc may wreak, happiness maybe found, yet unconditional love is completely profound” Shaul chanted. The forcefield disappeared and the “ring” came out the stand.

“It’s not a ring, young Leo. It’s a Holy Dagger. What Sara experienced was not some holy enlightenment that anyone can perform. It was special, and can only be done once in your life,”

I sat there, astonished. I had traveled this far to discover that Sara was much closer than I thought.

“Leo, Sara is safe now. The sky is vast, yet so is heaven”

I only had a few seconds to think about this before Shaul stabbed me in the heart. But I felt no pain. The light around the dagger swirled in and out my body. Shaul smiled. I thought he was crazy.

“Let’s see if your are the one for here”

The light inside me changed colours so much, then it stopped on a golden colour

“Indeed, it would appear you are. Tell Sara I love her. No matter what she thought, I loved her always”

I now know why Sara was so near, yet so far. She had died. But now I’m here with her. And with her always.
