Hi, i would like you help or opinon on something to do with my laptop. Currently i have noticed that as a whole it has been running quite fast but then i noticed that nearly 2gb of my hard drive had gone missing after careful looking through the c drive i noticed that the 2gb was in the temp folder. The weird thing is thought that they are files ive never downloaded and never even touched before i.e theres installer for games ive never had but when you try and click on them nothing happens or it loads in windows media player as a file thats not accepted. After looking at this i decided to delete, i deleted it but then noticed that it has come back after a few hours so i deleted again, but again it re-appeared.

Now what i want to know is why is this happening could it be a virus?

Ive also got another problem where when i drag a file to put in a new folder the following warnings come up:

CShellExtension::XDropTarget::DragEnter

CShellExtension::XDropTarget::DragLeave()

When stops me from drag any file.

Does anybody know why this happens?

If anybody does know why i have both these problem then can tell me how to get rid of them will i have to reinstall everything etc...?

The same still applies. Bin it and get Windows 2000.

If you are going to re-install, get Windows 2000 and dump 98/98SE in the nearest bin.

You should be OK to delete stuff in your TEMP folder. It may contain stuff that you didn't even know you downloaded from the net, like images and things like that. Also, if your machine crashes, Windows trys to dump stuff you are working on, like a word doc for instance, and save it into the temp directory.

As a rule of thumb, I try to clean out my temp directory every couple of weeks, you just shouldn't need anything that is in there.

As for your other problems, sorry, I have no idea, maybe some of the other guys can enlighten us. I would advise against reinstalling everything until you run out of all other options.
