First of all, no, this is not a gaming topic gone astray!
In fact, it has nothing to do with the fast-paced mutli-format racer whatsoever!

Unless you're one of those rejected people who are forced to live in the darkness of the sewers, away from civilisation as we know it, you'll no-doubt have noticed that England haven't exactly had the 'perfect' start in their World Cup preparations like Sven-Goran Eriksson and the fans could've expected. In fact, it's been far from it!
One-by-one, week-by-week, we've seen player after player drop out of the decreasing 23-man squad, making Eriksson and his staff sweat and sweat untill they canney sweat no more. Each time one player goes out, he's had to bring in a replacement from somewhere - even from back in Englagng, several thousand miles away. And with a good few of the players that have been hit by this highly contagious Injury Plague, their World Cup dream is over for now. But at least the likes of Beckham are recovering!

As I type this now, not one person has come forward with a logical explanation as to why this is happening to England, and why it is repeatedly hitting them, over and over again!

We've heard a bit of talk about a Korean curse all to do with the no.4. But that only counts for the players who have worn the no.4 shirt - Steven Gerrard, Nicky Butt and Danny Murphy. What about the rest of them, eh???
No one believe in curses and magic anyway! And if there is an explanation for all this then it's gunna have to be something that applies to the whole England Squad in general, and not just a select one or two.

If you're going to find out what's casuing so many reccuring injuries amongst the England squad(s) then you're gunna have to look at what casues these types of injuries.

A large majority of injurys are casued by bad challenges and accidents or falls around and about.
I can remember that disgracefull, yellow card-bound (BAH!!) challenge on Beckham in the Champion's League that broke the bone in his foot - from another Argentinian - but as far as I know, there's been nothing quite like that since the Premiership season ended, and the real World Cup preparations began.
I very much doubt that Beckham somehow travelled to Japan and South Korea (aka 'Jap-Korea') and spread the injuries like a cold! So there's no real logical explanation there as to why a whole team full of players has gone down.

What about the Premiership Burnout???
Did you ever hear of this? It was talked about around 2/3 years ago at the end of a season where the likes Michael Owen had been working there socks off all season, and were absolutley shattered when it came to World Cup time.
This 'Burnout' effect would basically occur amongst the more hard working and consistant players who put in 100% effort right from day one to no.38 throught a whole Premiership season in the Title Race.
Could you go a whole 38+ weeks straight and not fell the strain???
Well, it unfortunately doesn't end there for the Premiership's big boys!

The bigger you are, the more competitions you participate in, which also means you have more and more games to play than any average or team or below would have on an annual schedule.
These extra Cup games don't come any easier, and it's even worse with the added mixture of talent and determination you must fight against in Europe!

A team like Man United must average around 60 games a season - if they go far in the FA Cup and Champion's League ontop of the Premierhsip alone!
Imagine how you'd feel, I bet that's how van Nistelrooy feels.
You must have noticed how he slowed down in his scoring rate towards the end of the season, for £19m he's been a real bargain with an incredibley high amount of work-rate and goals scored!
Could he have been effected by the un-intended 'Burnout' - caused by playing so many games!???

Imagine trying to struggle through a World Cup or the European Championships after a knackering season with your domestic club. It'd be like running through sand, or soaking wet grass and mud.
If you're forcing yourself through so much MORE hard work then you may not exactly turn out on the bright side after. You could end-up with a serious injury, that puts you out of action for the whole summer at least!
Have England been worked too hard after the most thrilling Title Race to date????

I think it's very possible that this explains why the big club players like Gary Neville, Kieron Dyer, Nicky Butt, and Steven Gerrard have seen their dreams fading away thanks to unfortunate injuries!

That's my view on England's pre-World Cup disaster, what's yours???

I didn't see the Larsson one but I can remember all the pictures of Nillis' leg flopping the wrong way in the Sunday papers.

On the World cup programme last night I also saw the German keeper knock the Frenchman out cold in the 1990 world cup semi-final.

But not as bad as watching Larsson's double-break in a Super-Slo-Mo Replay!!

There was also the Barcelona Real Madrid game where protestors of something ran on and handcuffed themselves to the goalposts, There was a 10 minute delay to find a key or cutters to get them off. They do get injuries but we don't hear about them as not many people care if the Spanish equivelant to a lower league player(no disrespect to them)gets injured.

I still think that the Luc Nillis' injury was worst when his leg broke and then bent the wrong way.

I don't think that you can say that the Spanish League is easier to play in as a forward. European defenders are FAR better than most of the defenders in the English league.

They certainly can "put it about" as much as a premiership defender, and won't chicken out of a challenge. The Spanish teams don't have an advantage over the English teams (except that they don't take their cup seriously in general) and as Ortega said, they play about the same amount of games, although I have no idea if they have a winter break.

As far as I'm concerned this rash of injuries has been more down to bad-luck than anything else.

Steven Gerrard is probably the most injury-prone player in the England squad. It was always a possibility that he would get injured, especially when Houllier had to play him to guarantee second place in the Premiership when he was nursing an injury on the last day of the season.

Beckham is the fittest player in the England squad. No question. His injury was again, the result of him being a very influential player, and therefore Ferguson thought it important to play him at less than 100%.

Now, if Becks hadn't been injured, and Gerrard hadn't played that last game of the season where would we be? Everyone would be fit except Dyer (another injury prone player) and Neville, Murphy would still be at home.

It's just coincidence. France lost Pires to a freak accident, and now have lost Zidane for the first two games. Imagine having to play our first two games without Becks and Scholes not being there at all, and you can see we are not the only team with probs. Deisler is out for Germany, Caniggia for Argentina, Figo is not 100%. Everyone gets injuries. It is just that we put a lot of emphasis on it because its happened to Golden Balls!

eg....

Players like Ducshe and Tristan hacking the crap out of Beckham.

La Liga is bloody mad. On the last day of this season they had pitch invasions and everything. Players were actually kicking the crap out of some of the supporters that ran onto the field. Cant remember which game it was from, but it was bloody mad...

Spain's a different league to the Premiership.

Over here you get squad's full of players who make dangerous lunges and bone-breaking challenges. We also have a load more top-quality defenders in the Premiership, making it harder for the attackers to do what they want. So they have to work A LOT harder than in Spain!

All the Primera Liga players in Spain are based are flair and skill - hence why they signed Macca and no other Englishman.
With less defenders to be scared of, they've got it pretty easy.
That's also why we see wo many goals and big scorelines over there.

It's pretty similar in Itlay too, but with the likes of Stam there, it's just a LITTLE BIT harder.

Playing in Spain sounds like 'the place to play'!
No broken bones and very few bruises, lovely weather, and a huge wage packet from ANY of the clubs there.
Clubs like Villaroel have spent nearly £20m pre player on the likes of Palermo.

having breaks would be the ideal solution but there is not enough space to do so. I don't know if they had gaps in between matches when there was only 18 teams in the prem.

A break is a pretty good idea, but then that's either mean shorter domestic seasons, or a camopaign that runs on an extra 2 weeks or so into the summer.

Maybe less intensive training could be the answer???

Well, it shows one thing. Those getting injured have been working their butts off this season, rather than the others who are still ok!
Lazy over-payed, ungratefull.... :@

it is the burnout that has resulted in the metatarsal injuries to Beckham, Neville and Murhpy(if not him it was someone else.

They need a break in the winter/Christmas time to have a break and spend time with families like the Scottish leagues.
