no-one would do this as charity work. If Nintendo make games oriented around a younger audience, it's because they know it will shift units, not just because they want to keep people happy.
But mind that in order to maintain profits, they DO have to do it for the kids. They have to keep the customers happy, otherwise they can wave Mr. Revenue bye bye.
