Best British gangster film ever, bar none.
Forget Guy Ritchie, he's been ripping Long Good Friday off because not many people have seen it.
Dialogue you can quote for months:
"Mind my grief"
"Mafia? Hur hur, I've s##t 'em"
"Verbals with you son, don't be silly, Billy"
"Mark him Razors"
"Shut up you long streak of paralysed p#ss. I've 'eard of a sleeping partner but you two are in a f###ing coma"
Acting is excellent, Hoskins has never bettered this one. He can make however many rubbish films purely on the last 10 mins of this one.
Pierce Brosnan's 1st role, no lines, as a gay hitman.
Just an excellent, excellent film.
The Long Good Friday and Sexy Beast should be the only two Brit flicks allowed to call themselves "gangster films". Get Carter is pretty good, but nowhere near The Long Good Friday.
