"Mario is a short game" - FALSE. At E3 Miyamoto stated it is the same length as Mario 64.
"Metroid is a prequel" - Rumour. Prime also could mean Samus in her prime.
"Zelda is out this Autumn" - Wrong. Don't believe a newspaper. Feb 2003 in the US.
"Zelda compilation is out this year, 3 Discs blah blah blah" - FALSE. It might happen one day but the original rumour came from a FORUM and was made up for a larf yet all the British news sites posted it as gospel claiming "Our sources have told us". Well if "Our Sources" are a net forum wind up then that is very sad.
Stop using UK or amateur games sites for news, they are out of date and not accurate. You are on the internet. Gaming Age, IGN, Gamespot.com, Planetgamecube. Any of these mean anything to you? Use them.
a) Who cares if Metriod Prime does turn out to be a prequel? It will still be an amazing game.
b) IGN is probably the best source on the net for gaming news
c) Please don't read Gamesmaster, its crap and they hate Nintendo
Anyone remember the Phantasy Star 4 release dates? Rumour had it that it would be released in the US in May 1992 on CD, even though the Sega-CD wasn't even out yet, and mail-order firms were taking preorders. (One out in California comes readily to mind.) Instead, it came out in late 1994, on cartridge.
Games developers are very careful about what, and to whom, they say, otherwise they may be seen to be committing themselves to a date.
The result is the "Chinese whispers" resorting from the rumour mill...
Who cares if this stuff is true or not - it gives us something interesting to talk about, where we can say how and what we feel about how each game should/would be made!
And I think you'll find that there are people on this forum that DO use those sites you mentioned to get news and info.

Miyamoto said this in an interview "They're some games which you play from start to finish like Luigi's Mansion, and there is some you'll play again and again, I think MArio Sunshine will be like that" In the same interview he later said "Zelda is being made by a relativly large team whilst Mario is small". That is where the rumour came from.
