Nowasays, technology is increasing at a faster rate than ever before - unlocking features and abillities that we could never achieve before in all modern day appliances and machines.

For a good few years now, there have been things like Trash Compactors that compact your trash for you, so you can easily and efficiently dispose of your un-wanted waste in a matter of seconds, preparing it to be left outside ready for collection.

Dishwashers have saved people upto an hour or more of squeaky cleaning and the possibillity of dropping plates. All you have to do is put a large number of dishes, plates, and mugs inside, start it off and just wait for the machine to finnish, leaving your cutlery cleaner and shinier than what you could ever achieve by hand.

The same also applies to Washing Machines. But they clean clothes rather than plates. And with a Tumble Dryer, you can just chuck in your wet stuff and wait for them to dry. It also saves a hell of a lot of time, and is a lot more reliable than leaving your clothes out to dry with the possibility of rain and a muddy football turning on your dark side.

These are just a few examples of how improving techniology has allowed us to get along a lot happier in our dailly lives, by giving us a lot less stress and spare time on our hands. The only real problem is the high cost of some of these things.

Electronics have come a very long way since technology began increasing at a much faster rate.

CD and other music players are much smaller and more compact than ever before, with some interesting and unique features and deisigns to go with them. The media for recording and listening to music on has also changed in the same way - and the music we hear itself is now different too.

Computer and Video Games are something than anyone can enjoy quite easily. Thanks to the latest technology, we can enjoy them further with their top quality appearences graphically, and the high powered specs of the modern machines that makes everything run that extra bit better than before.
Where would it be today if it hadn't upgraded at all from the simplistic 8-bit days of the NES and Master System!

It seems that everytime something new and exciting comes along, it just HAS to enter the Gaming World somehow, rather than helping us in more important, more neccesary places where this kind of technology is really required to keep everyone alive and well in the Real World.

With PC's we see things like new Graphics Cards and other add-ons to make your machine even more powerfull than before, and better than everyone elses. And it's usually all down to the sole-purpose of 'better gaming'.

Millions are spent every few months, and it can surely total up into the billions on an annual basis - just to research and get all the latest info. on what's the latest thing around, and how they can adapt it into their own electronic products and devices.

Do we really need several new Widescreen TV's every year???
Surely the same can be said for Hi-fi's and Stereos - we only need ONE from every company on an annual basis!
Gaming's different, with a different console you get an entirely different selection of games, and it's not just 1 spec different to the other one.

Now we all know that we see things like this happen so often so that the big names can make the big money out of us. And for one reason or another, we do go out and spend hundreds on a simple CD/Mini Disc player, or even thousands upgrading our current PC's when we could just simply buy the latest model for a similar price!

When you look at the things that really matter in the real world, not a lot has changed in the last 10 years when you compare it with developments in the Gaming World.
There's no definite cure for things like Cancer or Heart Disease, and the millions spent on researching by the electronics people would be at a better place if used to research into cures that would save lives, and cure the unkown diseases and illnesses!
And what about Global Warming and this whole 'Green House Effect' issue??
Maybe electronics in place of burning fossil fuels could help to keep the Earth at a cooler temprature, saving us from the doom that comes with the melting Ice Caps!

What's more important: Electronics or Lives ???
Each person only lives once!
Gaming can go-on forever!!

I was watching an older episode of Boy Meets World and the teacher Mr.Feeny (aka Willian Daniels - Kitt from Knight Rider) was saying about how our generation (the younger generation) is at the peak of technology, at a time where so many things could be done to make the world a better place. But we waste it. And we use all that we have around us to do simple and pointless things like "...save the Princess and defeat King Koopa!!"

It was this that inspired me to start this topic.

So, do you now believe that technology IS being wasted on gaming and electroics, when it could be used to save lives and improve the enviroment????
