Now I'm really confused....

My plan was, that after my GCSEs, I was going to buy myself a copy of Macromedia Dreamweaver & Fireworks 4. At the moment, I use MS FrontPage 2000 and 1st Page 2000, and I don't have a decent graphics suite. Therefore, I had a look on Jungle.com and found a package called:

"DreamWeaver 4 Fireworks 4 Upg From Frontpage or Golive" - £210.33

This seems to be exactly what I want - with a massive saving. But then I realised that the MX suite has just been launched by Macromedia, so I had a look on their web site, and as far as I can tell, they are not going to update this offer so I can upgrade straight from FrontPage to DreamWeaver and Fireworks MX.

However, according to the Macromedia web site, all users of Fireworks and Dreamweaver 4, who purchased Dreamweaver between 30/3/2002 & 4/7/2002 and Fireworks between 30/3/2002 & 23/6/2002 are eligible for free upgrades to Fireworks MX and Dreamweaver MX.

If I get the FrontPage upgrade package, am I still eligible for the free upgrades? If I am, I need to buy them soon or I won't qualify. Plz help me......

Sorry about that, mis read your origonal post, I understand now... If you bought your FW/DW4 between that period, then yes, your eligable for a free upgrade, it makes sense.

True, if you UG from FP2K then you'll get the free UG to MX so it's would be worth shelling out fo rthe FW/DW4. though personally, I would try to get DW3/FW4 and upgrade to Studio MX for £299. you should be able to get v3 really chaep somewhere else., especially when you concider the extras you get with Studio.

I'll be doing a full review of StudioMX in a couple of weeks when mine arrives.

No, the upgrade from DW4 and FW4 should be free. I don't have any macromedia software atm, but i do have frontpage 2000. i can upgrade frontpage 2000 to DW4 and FW4 for £210 + P&P.

Then, according to the macromedia web site, I can get a free upgrade from DW4 to DWMX and FW4 to FWMX. I just want someone to confirm this.

Regardignt he upgrade, if you only going to upgrade to DWMX and FWMX, this is expensive as your looking at £100+ per upgrade, go with Studio as you laso get FlashMX, ColdFusionMX and Freehnd for £299...

Client don't care what software you use as long as the final product works... Its irrelevant how you built the site as long as the final product is what was asked for, even if you built it notepad...

I saw a copy of Flash 5 yesterday for £100 so check your local freeads for second hand versions, this way you'll get everything you need, you'll get all the manuals...etc seems like a good deal, but *cough*ing is ok, if you worried about broadcasting it, download the Dreamweaver/Fireworks 4 studio and get a serial number, you can get Flash in a studio version too, not sure if you can get all three.

About coughing on the software ;), I would do, and I have done before, except I'm going to be using the software for business use and many clients would be impressed to see that I use Fireworks & Dreamweaver, so I would be broadcasting the fact that I had them.
