Nintendo Names Iwata New President After Yamauchi Steps Down

Osaka, May 24 (Bloomberg) -- Nintendo Co., the world's second- largest video-game maker, said Satoru Iwata will become president at the end of the month, replacing Hiroshi Yamauchi who served in that post for more than 50 years.

Iwata, 42 years old, currently serves as a board member at the Kyoto-based company and is head of Nintendo's business planning department. Iwata joined Nintendo in June 2000.

Nah, Ninty wouldn't be the same without opne ruthless dictator ruling it... :D

And they said Ninty was a kiddie company... bet Yamauchi could scare off most of the PS2 fanboys :P

I thought Nintendo was gonna be run by a group of people instead of just one person after Yamauchi stepped down!?!

Things could get interesting then. Possibly more kiss kiss make up with Squaresoft too. Though when you think about it, this new guy wasn't even born when Yamauchi took the position. That is just too long for anyone to be in one position of responsibility like that. It can only be good news.
