To me, Trevor Sinclair is the ideal man to come in as the new stand-by, and enter the squad. I would say Steve McManaman but the Swede in-charge seems to be ignoring the World Cup winner full stop!
I see the 2 (Sincair and Macca) as pretty similar players anyway.
They're both very versitile in the midfiedl areas - and have proven how incredibley well they can do down either flank, or as wing-backs, and because of some good form this season they deserve to be in the England Squad! Sinclair is also a proven striker from his QPR days - remember that FA Cup Bicycle Kick when he had dreads in his hair! :D
But now it seems that wide positions are his thing.
The left-wing used to be a problem for England but I now see it as a 'problem solved'. Hargreaves, Joe and Ashley Cole, Macca, Barmby and Sinclair have all proven that they can do it down the left at a vareity of levels.
Problem is that Trevor Sinclair was sent back 9,000 miles to Upton Park to train with The Hammers untill Eriksson feels he is required.
That was 2 days ago, and already England are desperately after his services after realising Murphy's situation! He'll TRY and get on a plane to Japan tonight, but what are the odds that he'll definitley get a flight, and that he'll arrive in good enough time to join the squad and complete the remaining preparations for the main tournament.
After flying thousands of miles you're gunna have some serious jet-lag for a day or so, and so you won't even be able to train or excerices properly for at least a day or so!
Nice one Sven! Glad to see you will FINALLY include Sinclair in your plans, but surely it's too late to get him fully-prepared for the World Cup now! You've left it too frickin' late!
Why the hell did you send him back when you knew you had problems you balding Egg Head!! :@
And I didn't watch the England - South Korea game as I was busy.
I tried watching the highlights again later but I gave up after about 5 minutes as I found the whole thing too dull, slow and boring - on the account of both teams!

If he's desperate to mkae it, he can get a charter flight. He can hardly claim he can't afford it.
And as for Ashley Cole and Bridge, Eriksson will only try and keep those 2 in the left-back slots as he knows that is where they play best, and it is really too late for any last-mintue experiments!
You want McManaman in the squad, right? Sinclair's a similar player - but better equipped. He's been playing with and against the current England squad in all Domestic competitions this season.
And as for Sinclair going home, I expect he lost faith.
And if Eriksson really is a top manager and he really wanted to keep Sinlcair in mind who would never have just simply let him get off on that plane and go home tousands of miles!
He must have realised the consequences that could occur if he was re-called, and he's gunna have to experience them now!

I read a comment on the BBC site that said that Sinclair was Korea's best player!

Who did he win the World Cup with? Surely you mean the European Championship!
As for him being a good player, I'd disagree with you there except that it won't really matter. He won't play more than 5 minutes in this world cup. Beckham, Scholes, Butt, Hargreaves, Cole, Dyer and probably the A. Cole/Bridges combo will be ahead of him, before he even thinks about getting on the pitch.
So really it won't make a difference the fact he will be jet-lagged. But don't blame Sven, its not his fault. (And I'd call up Dunn anyway, he's better than Sinclair)
