I just dug out an old Funk CD I've got5 called Funkaholic, and it has some of the dang funkiest tracks I've ever heard on it. Music like this really makes me want to go dance in a club, swinging my arms around like a mentalist. It contains people like:

Rick James
James Brown
George Clinton
Rhythm Band
Marvin Gaye
Herbie Hancock
Maceo & The Macks

God damn I wish I was black.

Yeeeaaaaaah
*makes Beavis noise*

Now this is music to dance to. People who are scared of clubs are so because they think the only music that's played is naff chart electronica guff. Find some good London clubs that play stuff like this, and you'll discover your arms and legs take on a brand new use - getting funkay. Kool and the Gang have just come on now.

At 50 dollars an hour apparently.

I'm a bit ignorant here, but what else did Rick James do apart from Superfreak?

You know what it is? It's that old Vic and Bob sketch of Otis Redding and Marvin Gaye, sitting on the dock of the bay, with their little legs dangling over the side.

"We're just sitting on the dock o' the bay, man! Watching the ships come in... and then go out again."

He did Sexual Healing though, that I'm sure of.

Er, that was Otis Redding.
And for the best funky club yet in London, check out The Soul Cafe just off Wardour St.
I went there about a year ago and it's a very small, intimate place below street level that plays nothing but funk and soul.
And I got some free drinks because this was my first time there.

Best club night ever

Everybody knows who James Brown is, and I just about know who Marvin Gaye is...thanks to the Bloodhound Gang's 'Fire Water Burn' ;D

They think that Emmanuel Lewis is the antichrist :p

Who is Emmanuel Lewis anyway? Apart from being a midget?

The only "old" music I like is Jimi Hendrix and Bob Marley

You've never heard of Marvin Gaye? Wow, I thought most people knew him. You know, Sitting on the Dock of the Bay? Sexual Healing? You'd know if you heard him. Check it out, it's excellent stuff.
