Whether this Notable stuff is just 'a bit of fun' or not, I wanted to clear up some minor things, in case they should lead to any hard feelings or resentment.
I had three candidates in mind for the vote yesterday: Pro Evo, SonicRav and RM18.
By the time last night came around, RM18 was out of the running totally, so I decided to wait and see how things went.
As we know, there were to be two people made Notable's in this election. Basically, if either Pro Evo or Sonic needed a boost to get into the top two, I was going to vote for them.
At the time I voted, both Pro Evo and Sonic were the top two - my vote was largely irrelevant, but rather than waste it, I voted for Pro Evo.
I do hope my vote is permitted to stand, as it was made before midnight whatever SR's system time says. But if it doesn't, I don't think it will really matter.
So there you have it. Not that you cared anyway.

Point number 2: Why all the fuss?
If this is 'only a bit of fun', why do we have the bickering about the results EVERY SINLGE TIME?
I can't remember a Notable election where people just accepted the result.
-----
Point number 3: Sonic's votes
Personally, I do find it strange that some Newbies appeared out of nowhere for the first time in ages to vote for Sonic. But, if they are legitimate forum users and not aliases for other regular users, I think the votes should stand, and Sonic should accept them gracefully. After all, as long as they're legit, no rules have been broken.

Point number 4: Pro Evo's votes
I'm a bit sick of the hassle Pro Evo has been getting in this election. The fact that he rarely posts outside of the Sony forum is irrelevant, in my opinion.
I myself rarely ventured outside the Sony forum when I was elected, and I didn't get any hassle about it whatsoever. So why should he?
Similarly, and with no disrespect to either of them, SHEEPY was made a Notable because he came second in two consecutive elections, and pb rarely visits the FOG forums either - he was made a Notable simply because the existing Notables at the time and the SR boss though he should be.
I'm making no judgement as to whether they should or shouldn't be Notable's. As far as I'm concerned they both live up to the role more than adequately. What I AM saying is that, despite what the 'rules' say, it really stopped being the "FOG Notables" a long, long time ago.
At least Pro Evo has been voted in fair and square, so just deal with it. He did not campaign for votes, and is not a member of the 'gangs' in the Sony forum. The users of that forum have voted for him because he makes consistently high-quality post which add to the quality of the forums as a whole, and it's their way of showing him that they are grateful.
If you haven't been into the Sony forum and read his posts, then generally you are missing out on some of the best posts these forums play host to. That's your loss. Maybe instead of bitching about it, the rest of you should have made similar efforts to organise a vote for your own favourite.
What it boils down to is that Pro Evo is in an almost identical situation to me at the time I was elected. If he shouldn't be a Notable, then neither should I. Nor should SHEEPY or pb. So just think about what you're saying.

Point number 5: Notable's votes
More for SR staff than anyone else. Whether it's just a bit of fun or not:
a) Only one Notable should be elected at each election.
b) I'm not entirely sure that Notables should be allowed to vote in the Notable elections.
c) I certainly don't think that Notable votes should count double. Going by the unofficial figures that Your Honour has posted elsewhere, had we all voted for the same person, they would have been the next Notable regardless of the votes of EVERYONE else on the forums who voted.
d) I think there should be a reasonably fixed set of rules. So far each election has differed. We've had two new Notable's created when there should have been one, Notable's elected regardless of the election results, and endless bickering and resentment caused by results because the rules are never clear.
Sure, all the hubbub will blow over soon, but it's likely to happen all over again at the next election. It was supposed to be a bit of fun, but it seems to cause nothing but hassle for all concerned; I don't see the point in persevering with 'a bit of fun' that always sets users at each others throats.
This last election seems to have caused more bad feeling than any previous, and I really think that the whole idea needs tightening up considerably or scrapping altogether.

That's it. Thank you all for your time.

So what. There staff, they make the decision, there's no cheating or tactics or anything, and the staff's decision is final, sounds much better to me.

Darn' tootin'

Mr. Snuggly did find that some regulars had voted twice for me using newbie accounts (it's all in his "official results" topic). This is what annoys me the most- the people not only go out of their way to wreck what should be a bit of fun, but also that I'm linked to it.
I still want to know what's going to be done about these... naming and shaming seems to be the more humiliating way:). Oh, and they shouldn't be allowed to vote again (not that thawill stop them!).
