I picked up 'American Cloven Hoof Blues' by the band Scissorfight having heard a couple of tracks, and all I can say is that these guys rock. What Rob Zombie is to horror and B movies, these guys are to rednecks, dirt and murders in the wood. Rock at it's most primitive form. Musically they don't have much in common with Zombie (though the White Zombie track 'Black Sunshine' wouldn't sound too out of place on the Scissorfight CD). The overall sound is metallic with big and dirty blues riffs. Chuck in the odd bit of Slayer, NWOBHM and Henry Rollins, and you get somewhere near Scissorfight.
The songs cover such topics as being a cadaver recovery man ('If the dogs can't find them, they know that I can'), gators, snakes and of course fighting. Then you've always got 'Planet of Ass' ('Don't think you seem to understand, I'm gonna funk you in the can'). The fact that the band are named after a slang term for lesbian sex just tops it all off nicely. Makes you want to go and chainsaw some stuff.....
