Metroid Prime GC
****************
My favorite game of the show so far. Metroid was amazing. I watched the entire demo in the private screening booth. It looks absolutely gorgeous, they totally nailed the atmosphere and sound and music. You can argue that some of the core things of the Metroid series didn't carry over with the gameplay shift, but I'd say that this improves upon and evolves the franchise. When the ship lands (which looks absolutely beautiful on the GC) it plays the classic Metroid level start music. The game just looks way beyond what most FPS's are offering in graphics and gameplay. They got the atmosphere down, this Metroid fan is extremely pleased and debating over an eventual Gamecube purchase. Samus looks fantastic, the effects in the game are great, when she shoots off a certain plasma shot the whole screen warps, when she shoots some dead bad guys the green stuff splatters on her helmet. Retro has completely redeemed themselves, Miyamoto is a god. You can really tell when Nintendo is trying and cares about a series.
Zelda GC
********
Zelda GC was easily the most popular game of the show imo. The game looks incredible. It looks exactly like a Disney Animated feature film come to life. It's truly an awe inspiring game visually. But it is cel-shaded and has some of the problems that other cel-shaded games are having. Some things just don't look right. The water for instance needs work. Everything seems much more tongue-in cheek about this new cartoon zelda. The gameplay seems pretty true to the Zelda franchise. There are some MGS type of sneaking around sequences which were first introduced in TOOT I believe. The game is extremely cute. Zelda fans will be very happy, kids are going to flip over it because it is spectacular, and the average 17 year old boy is probably going to hate it.
Metroid Fusion GBA

Didn't spend much time with it today unfortunately because I was distracted by how gorgeous Metroid Prime was. The gameplay seemed like classic Metroid. The graphics have gotten a huge boost over last years footage. I will definitely spend more time when I revisit the Nintendo booth.
Mario Sunshine GC
*****************
Mario Sunshine was the biggest disapointment of the show for me. It was also the first game I got to play at 9:30 AM. I played it for a long time, but couldn't get into it. The graphics are not up to par with the other games that Nintendo has on GC. I kept looking over at StarFox which was next to it while I was waiting to play and everytime I would look back and forth I would think to myself StarFox looks really good. The controls also need some tweaking imo. It took me a long time to figure out where I was supposed to go and what I was supposed to do. The gameplay just felt like more Mario (which I'm not saying is a bad thing) but it didn't feel exciting at all. The water in Mario Sunshine looks spectacular though.

pats on the back for the people who made the Zelda trailer I thought the Conan music went perfect with the trailer shame it won't be in the game.
What do you think the other Zelda game is going to be, all they did was comfirm it but no details. I would like to see the sequel Cel-shaded as well but thats me.
I wasnt sure if i was gonna get metriod but from the videos and screenshots i saw then it is now on my to buy list when it comes out.
Now that would be nice :)
Still a while before it is released though so hopefully any problems will be sorted out.
I watched the full 57 Minute Nintendo press conference yesterday. It was rather poor quality (seeing as it was streaming through my 56K modem :D) but i could still make out most things...
Metroid does indeed look stunning (possible candidate for best game of E3) and Starfox is shaping up very nicely.
The Guy speaking for Nintendo also empahised the point how they are trying very hard to bring games to the GameCube which will appeal to the older gamer and showed some pretty cool movies of Resident Evil Zero and Eternal Darkness.
This year looks to be a very bright year for Nintendo and I am very much looking forward to all the games coming out this year :)
