I haven't seen the results yet, or gone into any of the voting chat threads for a while, but *if* I've got in I don't want it. That's right, I'm throwing a sissy strop. I thought it would have been cool to be a notable, but I've read some of the things that people have written about me and I don't want to bring that sort of atmosphere to these forums. If I've got in, I want to be made purple again and the runner-up awarded the title - or I'll start again as a newbie. Either way I don't care. I didn't come here to get involved in these shenanigans - just to draw crazy pictures and chat bollacks. I read a lot of negative comments about me not deserving this, made by people who I chatted with regularly. Apparently I'm not notable material, so I'd rather stay purple and not have anyone get in a huff and resent me. Give it to SonicRav. He's been here years, and deserves something for that.

Like I said - *if* (big if) I get in, give it to someone else.

Cheers :D

I thought that was rather pointless, myself. How does it really help the situation? Maybe I'm just not seeing it straight, I dunno.

Oh, and the idea of Newbies voting is ridiculous. However, if a Newbie has been registered for a while and doesn't post loads, but a substantial ammount, I think they should be able to vote.

Okay, *hopefully*, this will be my only serious post on the Notable election. This is because I don't want to annoy people, and also it's being taken too seriously as it is. I only made a few posts yesterday, there was nothing else to talk about.

Anyway, I'm surprised VenomByte didn't get more votes, but I s'pose I would be considering I voted for him. Maybe he deserved more, maybe he didn't, but fortunately I don't think he really cares. In my mind, he's Notable.

I'm very surprised at Pro Evo being voted in, but he seems like a cool guy. I'm sure he'll visit FOG quite a lot, and hell, sometimes I spend more time in another certain forum than in here.

Congrats to SonicRav, he's been here around the same time as me and he's got a strong presence on the forums. Knows his gaming, which in my mind is still important.

I was also shocked at monkey_man's popularity, but then again he's that sort of guy I s'pose. Reminds me a lot of Goatboy. And he owns Cats, which makes him cool. {:)

Monkey Man, the fact is that you came 2nd in both the official result, and the result of just the notables and regular votes. You deserve to be notable, and that's why people voted for you.

I still think you should reconsider- even though you may not think you're worthy, lots of posters, regulars, notables and newbies alike, think you are.

I'm happy to step down for you- it'll certainly be a weight off my shoulders seeing as I'm now the "reject" who came in by default.

Forget any rubbish that people post about you monkey_man. At the end of the day this is a chat forum and it's mostly just for fun.

For me the choice was between you and Pro Evo, You because I find you entertaining, the Smelly Gippo stunt you pulled last week was superb, keep doing those things for us., Pro Evo because when I first came here I went to the Sony forum and I had some good discussions with him and he does some very good posts. Unlike alot of the new crop of posters in there who just keep going on about "Is my new post good enough for GAD?".

PE won my vote because of the influence he had on me when I first came here, if you dont get in this time then keep up the good work and you'll get my vote in three months..

VenomByteyou outline some great points there, and I totally agree with you, firstly this forum is a big place and not everyone visits other forums, there are some great poster out there but not everyone knows about them because they dont visit other forums and such. Sonic is another great poster who dserves to be a notable, he posts some really decent stuff and its valid arguments not mindless spam in FOG.

there is are a few people who think that notability should be only for someone who votes in FOG chat, but come on, most of it in there is spam anyway, someone who makes a difference should be both a great poster and someone who can have a laugh, not someone who is 'popular' with people around the forums for posts that have no relevance to gaming at all.

VB, I totally agree. Pro Evo has done good things in the Sony room (esp sticking up for newbies), and people obviously think he's fit to vote for.

WM's votes should count, meaning PE wins on votes anyhow.

Yes, I disagree with the idea of newbies voting myself. I could easily have chucked in a few more votes for monkey man, sonicrav, or anyone else without anyone knowing. Seeing as the account details are faked, it wouldn't be easy to track.

I must raise a point here though... and that is that those of us (including me) who haven't seen much in the way of contributions to the forums from Pro Evo should consider how monkey man is viewed by those who only really use the Sony forums. He mainly posts pictures and gimmicks to entertain, which is great if you like that. But it's also going to look like spam if you don't.

I have been reading some of Pro Evo's stuff on the Sony/Playstation forum though, and you couldn't class it as spam however you looked at it. He may be a Sonyling, but he is nonetheless a decent poster.

As the chatforums grow bigger and bigger here at SR, it's inevitable that people can't visit every forum, and you are going to get groups of people who stick to one forum or the other. Myself, I rarely visit any of the single format forums, but browse most of the others frequently. Others will stay only in the FOG chat, or only in the Sony forum. Obviously then, there was going to come a time when someone from one of these groups was elected notable - much to the disbelief of the others.

So, is it really out of order for him to be notable?

Not to mention the 4 Newbies who popped up out of the blue within the last hour of voting...all voting for you in the space of 14 minutes.

One of them had only ever made 4 posts...

Not having a pop at ya by the way...

MM, as noble as this may be, I'd never accept becoming notable through this manner. Not only would it mean that I was never really sure of whether I deserved it, but people voted you because they actually want YOU as notable- plain and simple. Not as an act of sympathy or a random shot in the dark, but because they thought you had made the best contribution.

Secondly, will they even make 2 notables as people say? As I remember, it has been the exception to make 2 notables at once. The first time it happened was because Sheepy just missed out on becoming one of the original notables, and then came 2nd in the first election. The next time it happened was because the vote was so close. Either way, 2 notables is the exception- not the rule. Looking at how the voting went it looks like Pro Evos got it in any case then!

Oh, and finally, what's all this nonsense about newbies voting. Although most newbies are excellent posters, it only takes 2 days to become a newbie. So, I can set up an account on Monday and vote on Wednesday. Not only that, but many newbies have voted for the people they have done not on the basis of that person's posts, but on the campaign they've run and peer pressure. Not at all the way it should be done- newbies just haven't been here long enough to make an accurate judgment in most cases.

Although the notables having 2 votes each is a good point.
