Ok this is the problem.
Recently when I play my PS2 a dirty yellow translucent mark appears on the bottom corner of the screen and a thick black line appears down the side of the TV. I thought the TV was wrong. However the strange thing is I can watch TV and it's ok or watch a DVD and it's ok. Another strange thing is, if the DVD has any game footage in it, the same thing happens, the black line and yellow mark. so I call out the TV guy and he tells me it's my PS2 which makes sense as all my other consoles (Dreamcast, PSX and N64) work perfectly, he also tells me that if I try my PS2 on another TV the same thing will happen (Yellow mark and black line) so I try it and the PS2 is perfectly fine, it works on all of the other TV's
Has any one else had the same problem? it's so strange.
Oh and I phoned up the PS2 helpline thing and low and behold they tell me it's a problem with the TV.

First things first. If it only occurs on that particular telly, and you've tried it on other tellies, then it's a telly problem. If it was a problem with the PS2, it would happen on every telly you plug the PS2 into.
Secondly, is your telly a bit old? This kind of thing happens when TV's get old - you get the picture shifted slightly (resulting in the black line), and the colour response in the corners of the screen starts to go off.
Another thing to check is that your video cable is securely plugged into the back of the telly - try wiggling it and seeing if that helps.

The only thing that I've had wrong with my PS2 is when I had to get GT3 exchanged because it sometimes stopped working.
