Shareware is a demonstration of a game that will unlikely be released on the shelves of your nearest Woolworths because it has no publisher.
Doom was shareware, and look where the creator, John Romero, is now.
(Crying over the "success" of Daiktania.)
Ok. But he brought us Quake, Quake 2, err, Quake 3, and started the company that brought us Deus Ex.
However, times have changed with shareware, and now, instead of finding a 2D space invaders clone with snazzy graphics, you will find a 3D space invaders clone, with even MORE snazzy graphics.
Oh dear. Missed the point again.
Shareware is a for of showing how much talent there is out there, in the real world. Make a very playable shareware game, snap it up on a PC Gamer cover disc, and if luckily some games developer sees it, he may go on to hire you, and make you very, very rich indeed.
This also works for mods for games such as Half-Life. Valve hired some chappies that made the counter-strike mod for Half-Life, and also, hired another bloke who was making a Gunman mod for it, and he's now making a complete game based on it for them.
So for all you budding games makers out there, (Hello Dan_UK), there is hope for us yet.
I'm not gonna wait arond here all day anyway, I've got a Deus-Ex level to make...
But anyway, I can't be bothered to change forums to Grix's Majora's mask topic, but I have some info on it.
There is a guy who lives in America, who has his own zelda site. He's got loadsa stuff about Majora's mask, and, cos he bought it he's got walkthroughs, pictures, the lot. Needless to say it's a very good website... I think..
His address is www.tbi.net/~max/zelda64.htm
...............I think
Check it out if you want to :)
And that for, should be a form as well.
In many ways I really should have read through this before posting it really, in apposed to after.
