After stumbling across a moded q cube on ebay, it occured to me to take a look at lik-sang.co.uk
Keep in mind that all prices are before shipping, and there may be import costs getting stuff into the country.

Wavebird:
They expect to have them available from 24th June - just over a month away, and at about 28 squid, before shipping remember (doubt it'd need import duty tho), it looks like a good buy.
Just remember it needs batteries. *cough*rechargableonesareagoodidea*cough*

Q-cube:
At a heafty £345-ish, it's not for financial lightweights, but playing 1-6 region dvds, moded for us and jap cube games (but not pal ones. at least, not yet), and a bunch of other minor video disc formats, it looks good.
Also, comes with a step down transformer.
All sides are close to 30 cm, if your tv doesn't run an ntsc signal, you'll need a ntsc-pal converter. Lik-sang have one for about £40.

Woderswan:
A popular japanese handheld. Cheap (<£50), but no real incentive to buy.

Oh and GP32:
A handheld system using digital media (cards, and games downloadable via a pc link) It supports internet access and apparantly software development kits are spread about like rolled up fivers at angus deyton's house.
Still, didn't see any interesting games, and coming in at over a hundred quid, it's not a likely purchase any time soon.

Still, the q-cube looks really good. If i was loaded. Still, if they make a pal game compatable one, i could happily sell off my dvd and gamecube to buy the tidy (yet bigger than i'd expected) piece of kit. Lovely.

Oh, and i'll be ordering my wavebird in about a month. Though maybe from the dvdboxoffice (.com)

Neither are by nintendo - the wonderswan is by bandai, not sure about the gp32. Pictures at lik-sang, but i'm not sure what either offer by way of games.

No, lik-sang are importers, bringing the things across from japan. Hence they play japanese cube games (and are moded for us, i'm hoping maybe for pal modding, but doubtful), it's all region dvds, and an ntsc output.

I don't want the Wavebird and i'm not really all that bothered about the Q-Cube as i'm not the kind of guy who buys loads of DVD's or even videos. But the Q's still a great thing - even if it's not 100% dedicated to games like Nintendo's own GameCube.

Can you give me more info. on those 2 handhelds??
Are they both from Nintendo???
And what about pictures??

I remember seeing a new handheld console in The Mirror a while back that looked very similar in design to the GBA. But I can't remember it's name, and my mum threw the paper in the bin before I had a chnace to look it up on-line.
Oh, and it wasn't a Nintendo machine, and that's why i'm asking.

Still, more handhelds means more (and SOME) competition for the no.1 GBA!
And that makes things a lot more interesting!
