Pacman, what did you mean by "smell their fear?"
I'm sure that all the major companies will support it.
"Hey, John Romero?"
"Err, yeah."
"Will you be utilising iSmell technology in the next Ion Storm game?"
"..."
"I'll take that as a no then."
*John Romero attacks interviewer.*
The iSmell is a device that can release 128 different smells using a small internal fan. Imagine what this cold add to the game playing experience:
Fighting games:- You strike your opponent in the face, and can smell the blood pouring from there burst lips. You kick them in the stomach and they vomit, the smell hits you, and puts you off a bit - like it would in real life. You are about to perform a special move, and the opponent knows he is beat, you can smell his fear ;)
In RPG's you would be able to smell the grass and flowers when travelling in the country, and the damp musty smell in dungeons. Certain enemies would have a bit of a stench to them as well.
In driving games you would be able to smell the engines the smell of the fuel and burning rubber when you fly around a corner.
I think this would really add to some games, and they are looking to have the units available for sale for PC use by late 2001.
