It is pretty much pointless for me to try and classify Rival Schools, I'd probably end up confusing myself and you, but they seem to have got the emo tag at the moment. Their range of styles is great, from turbulent guitars in 'High Acetate' to the brooding tune of 'Undercovers On', from the uplifting 'Hooligans For Life' to the downbeat, heavy as you like 'Holding Sand' you're bound to find a few favourite tracks on here. You certainly can't accuse them of sounding the same on every song. Although the range of styles and moods of the songs is great, the overall feel of the album is pretty much uplifting and optimistic, but thankfully, not in an irritating so-cal (southern californian) all sunny and smiles kind of way.
This is a great collection of songs that should be owned by anyone. You're bound to find some songs on it you like, just listen to it with an open mind. It really is excellent.
