Star Wars fans steal hundreds of posters

By Ananova

Hundreds of promotional posters for the new Star Wars film have been stolen.

More than half the posters for its outdoor advertising campaign in Australia have gone missing.

Twentieth Century Fox says thousands of dollars of damage has been caused to bus stops and other sites.

Fans have smashed glass and bent metal frames to remove about 540 of the limited edition posters.

"It makes us realise the length that fans will go to in their efforts to own a piece of this film," Fox films marketing director John Scott told the Sydney Morning Herald.

"Seeing the movie is not enough for these people. They're desperate to get their hands on these posters, but it's against the law and they're causing thousands of dollars' worth of damage."

The posters have four different designs and Mr Scott thinks some fans have tried to get a copy of each one.

I heard that Star Wars nerds got rowdy at an early showing of Star Wars because the film was accidentally shown the wrong way around - they saw the end sequence first. Apparently police had to be called in to calm the mob. Heh heh. Nnngarrrrr I hit you with my light saber neeeeee you take five hundred hit points of damage honk honk.
