I am currently running Windows XP on my brandnew laptop and am having problems connecting my printer.

Windows recognises a new hardware device but when I try insert driver, i've lost my disc so when downloading from the list allready given, my printer is not listed. It lists 500 then 600 but no 580. The driver from the Epson Support website is supported by the windows logo software so it wont let me install the printer. what do i do next?

All help well appreciated.

Figured it out last night around midnight. Cheers for your help anyway guys.

The driver for the 580 on the Epson site was for the Windows XP system so I downloaded it, when I tried to install it, Windows XP wouldn't allow it to do so as it didn't have the XP Logo Signature (or someting like that) so it wouldn't let me install it. The 500 and 600 didn't work, so I changed the device manager to notify me of downloads without the Logo but to not completely block the download. Worked out just fine in the end. Took me an hour or so though...

Cheers anyway guys.

ftp://ftp.epson.co.uk/pub/uk/ drivers/printers/inkjet/pc/winxp/sc580_winxp_full.exe

REMOVE THE SPACE AFTER /uk/

your looking at the list for Epson Stylus, you need the Epson Stylus Color, just a bit further down the list.

Are you saying that Epson don't have 580 drivers on their site?

OK:

First, check the WHOLE list for the 580. Sometimes they have prefixes that "moves" the printer to another part of the list, so check it all. If it's not there, try the 500 and 600. Most drivers are exactly the same, they just have different names for a piece of mind kind of thing.
