Sorry, I know we're probably all sick to death with stupid electing campaigns and various other electin related stuff. But, (you knew there was gonna be a but didn't you?) I just thought I'd give some advice on how people can get me to vote for them.

I probably have the attention of loads of Notable wannabes by now, so here's the advice:

Stop creating damn annoying *VOTE ME* threads! Unless you actually have any chance what so ever of getting a few votes, which many people who are campaigning to be honest don't, then a campaign thread won't get you any more votes! And they're damn annoying!

The way to go about campaigning is to stop posting crap everywhere that no-one really wants to read, and start making intelligent posts that people will enjoy reading. What's the best way to get people to like you? Is it...

(a) To write a big list of why people should like you and hope someone pays attention.

OR

(b) To make an interesting, funny, intelligent piece of writing showing your opinion on something and do your best to make sure it is something people will enjoy, while you enjoyed writing it.

If you answered (a) then you have probably already started an election campaign thread, and I hope someone has yelled suitably in your direction for doing so. If you answered (b) then good, don't even think about starting your own campaign thread just give people a real reason to vote for you (ie. the quality of your posts).

So you want my vote...? Then write something interesting and intelligent and stop telling me why you're so great goddamnit!!!

How about a new election time tradition. Instead of saying "vote me... please... pretty please" everyone just post a lot of quality topics so people actually want to vote for you!

Wouldn't that make a nice change?
