Apparantly, Sony are leaving it really tight in getting the initial batch of PAL PS2 machines into this country, they are apparantly due a day before the release date, so if that is the case, then they will go straight from their import points directly to the shops- you will probably have a PS2 that is hot of the press. However, this may mean that the release is liable to slip if they cant get the stocks in. It looks like Kieran may have been right...

Very worrying. I hope that they get their a***s into gear and get them there on time.

Well spotted Damo.

If you are right that they are not arriving until the day before, then they will never make the shelves within 24 hours. It takes some time for ANY shipment to pass through the customs system in this country, and even a small hitch can get it impounded for weeks.

I don't think that it is likely that the transports will deliver directly to the stores, as they will need to be processed through each of the retailers systems before being delivered to the stores. Not to mention going via a holding company or Sony themselves. (depending on whether they are delivering themselves, or they are employing another firm to handle the distribution for them)

Let's hope that it is a smooth ride what ever the outcome of all this is.
