For all those that don't know of PSO1, it is an online (and offline for that matter) RPG. It came out on the dreamcast and was a great success with the majority of gamers as it appealed to pretty much every one.
The game is set in a futuristic universe which you get to explore. One of the best parts of the game is that instaed of Zelda, golden sun and other RPGS you actually get to create your own hero.
At the start of the game you will get to choose from three different races to create your character from.Humans, newmans which are a humanoid race of creatures and androids which are robot type players(a bit like terminators). These three groups are then divided into three fighting classes. The ranger who can use shot guns, rifles and other forms of artillery, the hunter who is a master of close range combat and the force player who is bassically a magician that uses spells and sorcery to take out monsters that attck. Every charcter available to choose from in the game has uniquie powers and qulities but it is yourself that is involved in their up bringing and what moves they will learn. It is alot like final fantasy in places. for example, the stat building process is very similar.
The online part of the game allows players to connect to the internet via a 56k modem adapter that fits into the bottomof the gamecube and connects to a telephone line. when playing online you enter a game rtoom where you can team up with some people and start your own adveture with them. the game will be very similar to the single player adventure but you will have the company of other to help complete missions and tackle bosses.
The whole idea of the game is very pleaseing and it will definately be a hit on gamecube with two new missions and some exclusive characters.Another feature exclusive to the cube will a gamecube keybord controllker that is pictured in NOM magazine this month. The controller will allow player to type messages to each other in the online chat rooms. A much simpler way to typeing the messages out by selecting letters with the joystick as what was used on the dreamcast.
I am definately looking forward to playing the game however getting my gamecube to a telephone line might prove difficult as my cube is in my room and all the lines are down stairs.
PSO will hopefully be joining us next autum.
lets keep our fingers crossed!!
finding weapons on your own was bloody difficult.
except i never went and stole people's stuff...that's just plain an*l...
what i did before i stopped playing was to get this guy to give me all these really good rare weapons which he had duplicated somehow...
getting the spread needle makes the whole game REALLY easy...even on VERY HARD on the last stage
Finding the secret weapons was what kept me going but it was just a matter of luck whether you found any or not. I'm not a very lucky person either. If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.
After obtaining the Soul Eater (a really cool Scythe that you had to work hard for) I was very happy. Until! I dropped it by accident, and then quit the game. I lost it! And couldn't be bothered to go through all the missions again (this time on VERY HARD mode) to get it back.
And that was the alst annoying thing about it. I got my PS2 and haven't played it since.
Plus, nobody online liked me because I stole all their weapons. One time, 2 people were making a deal (100,000 Mesetas for a Chainsaw weapon). I picked up both before any of them! I got 100,000 Mesetas (which were of no use to me as I had full money) but no chainsaw. The guy had some sort of fake weapon and although I picked it up, it was not a chainsaw!
I think I'll play fairly when i get it for the GameCube. :-D
i really hope they change the combat system!!! put in some phat combos and stuff...that would make it a lot better
if they had sorted those two out why did everyone say that the single player is pants...
swearing was easily sidetracked too...cos unlike these forums where you have people monitoring over what is said...in the game you only have a filter system.
people in pso can easily insert a comma or space in between their swear word...(well happened on the dc)
This is a problem with any online RPG though it has happened to me on Legend of Mir if any of you have heard of it.
I hope nintendo have better security on there game servers then sega have
