If Mario was released at launch, we wouldn't be able to look forward to it now!! Besides, I don't like playing half-finished games! ;)

I think Luigi took his place but it would have been nice to see him.

original games :

super monkey ball : never seen something l;ike this before (with mokneys at least)

luigi's mansion : when has there ever been a game that you go around a mansion sucking up ghosts before (well ghostbusters maybe)

ok so it's not that many , but the quality of the games is what counts , star wars is superb !

Burnout, while being a good game, isn't the type of racer I really want. I want a Ridge Racer, or Gran Turismo!

And Bloody Roar???? pahh, don't give me that! I want Tekken, Virtua Fighter, or Dead or Alive 3 standard beat-em-up action!

:p

I suppose it could have done with a Mario game but it didnt spoil what was otherwise a hugely successfull launch!

I was very dissapointed to see that the Cube was gunna launch without a single Mario game, but I wasn't too dissapointed when I saw Luigi's Mansion - except for tha fact that it's not a 'propper' platform/adventure game.

Look at the launches of the NES, SNES and N64 and there was a Mario game for each. To me, the GameCube is 'empty' without a Mario game at launch.
But it looks like Ninty are holding back all their 'AAA Titles' untill a later date - late this year/early next year at the earliest!
This could work VERY well, and really threaten the PS2 and X-box after a majority of their top-titles have already been released!

So Ninty's big guns could come when it's rivals start to slow down! :D

And we're only really dissapointed with the launch because there's no Mario and no 'new and original' games.
The quality's good, but we've seen Crazy Taxi and Sonic 2 before, and you can get Burnout and co. on the Box or PS2.

With almost all the Cubes in the UK being sold in the first 3 days of release, please tell me how that constitutes in any way as a poor launch?

Besides which, Luig's Mansion IS a Mario game, at least, it's based in the Mario "Universe".

The launch was really good, in most places they sold out their gamecubes. In GAME in Cardiff they sold 74 in the second morning, they would tell me how many they sold on day 1 with their midnight opening, all they told me was that it was a lot.
