Most films are great aren't they. All the explosions and screams and amazing stunts are all great.
Most games are great aren't they. All the explosions and screams and amazing stunts are all great. No, this is not an error.

You look at these two and say "Well he may have a point there, but I think he's wrong." well I believe I'm not because in fact I have noticed similar things in games and films. All except one quite funny idea actually and I think it would be a great laugh, but you'll see what I mean later. Oh yeah and I do know that a game is different because you play it and a film is different because you watch it. Okay. So here we go then:

First things First (2)

You go into a shop and buy a game. Pay around £40 and leave. Same with a film. You go into a store and buy a film, paying about £20. (Yes I'm aware you may go into a cinema, but not in this case.) Next you open the case at home, slot the mini disc or disk or cartridge or whatever and away you go. Same with a film, you put the cassette or DVD in the player and sit back and relax. Wow! this is working out fine isn't it? But that's not all. There are many more similarities so read on to find them out.

Starting the game (3)

Now you've got the game and put it in the console all you need to do is play. You first of all notice that the start of the game has a logo and cool title just like a film. One more similarity. You now start your journey. Oooohhhh! Next thing that is similar is the fact that nearly all games and films have a main good-guy character and a bad-guy character. And possibly a sidekick and women in trouble or something. You've got Mario, Luigi and Peach while the films have Batman and Robin so you can now see there is not much difference. After this you immediately find out the plot of the game. It may be save the world or win the world cup and this applies to films too. Obviously!!!

Amazing Extras (3)

Now no game would be great unless it had those little extras. Extras like mind blowing sound FX and jaw dropping graphics with explosions and lighting effects. Well surprise surprise this is the same with a film. Take Star Wars for example. You have the sounds of swooping TIE fighters and explosions when two TIEs crash as well as cool looking computer animated suff too. The X-Wings and crashes all look real. But what about the life of both a game and a film? Aren't they different? Not really as you can view the film again and again, but you can also play a game again and again. See.

The little things (4)

Lets not forget the other things too because there are quite a few of them. Firstly we usually have well known actors or characters starring in the games and films. Mario, Luigi, Solid Snake, Russel Crowe, those type of famous people. We also have advertising for both the games and the films not that it's quite important. Luigi's Mansion and Star Wars II both have adverts. Another thing is that both games and films impress us visually and hearing-wise. Good graphics, sounds FX, computer animation impress us. One idea I came up with is that most good games are made into sequels. Mario Bros. into Mario Bros. 2 and so on. Well as usual the same applies to films, Rush Hour and The Mummy were made into sequels.

One final note for fun (It may not be to do with the topic and I hope it doesn't ruin my chances of winniong gameaday)

Have you noticed that in some films there is some out takes. Rush Hour and Rush Hour 2, Toy Story 2 etc... Why not have it in games? Imagine it, you've just completed your Mario adventure and you see the end sequence. That may be all, but if some out takes were included then it woyuld turn any frown into a smile. You could have Mario trying to do a backflip but endes up falling into the camera, or Solid Snake sneaking down the corridor in a cut scene but accidently trips on a bin. The possibilities are endless. Send some more in and tell me if you think it's a good idea.

Now you've read this I hope you may see that there is not that much difference between a game and a film. They both have sounds etc... and have one main objective. To entertain you. Did you enjoy this and see if you can come up with anything else.

Thanks for reading and thanks for your time.

I was trying to write something you would enjoy and maybe win Gameaday. Like many people I have no money to get a game. I only have 2 games since last year around February!

Nice post and all but...I'm sure we all know films and games are both forms of entertainment with various shared components.
