With new super consoles (ps2 xbox and gamecube) taking over the gaming industry we expect companys to push the games to the limits of thier capability with new modern textures and details or as some would say 'super realistic' so why do we see more and more cell shading coming onto our consoles?
First let me say this isnt a big cell shading diss because it is not there have been many a great game in which its cartoon nature made it stand out as a real benchmark game ( games like jet set radio future spring to mind) but are the gaming companys going backwards? Well i guess not really due to the fact that with time games can become 'perfect cartoons' but is it a good thing when a game like Zelda (gamecube) is changed from being super realistic to cell shading after months of hard work?
Will this new era of super consoles bring with it a new era of games and if so will these games be remembered as brilliant or blunders or maybe they will fall somewhere into an abyss of the average (not amazing but not a disaster either)well i suppose only time will tell.

Thanks for reading :)

To be frank, I hate cell shading. To me it reeks of takeyness.

The new Zelda looks like its shaping up nicely but the baddies all have giant heads. I really detest this and won't buy it until I play it first.
The only game I have seen it work on is Jet Set Radio, in which it went well the the feeling of the game and the lighting.

But imagine Rogue Leader in cel shade?
Nah, I really hate it.

The general concensus amoung the general public (yes I have researched into it) is that cel shading is not as popular as conventional 3D.
Ultimatly it will die out, in my opinion.
