For ages now we have written and talked about the type of games coming out, they seem to be based on the same thing all the time, nothing new has reached us in ages, but I saw an advert for a new game just the other day and I had to say something.
The advert was for a volley ball game, huh? why volley ball, it's got to be one of the most unlikely games to be bought, it's only worth watching the women's games if your a pervert, but if it's a game, well I can't think why it would be so good, I don't know many people that even know the rules to the game!
But since this, we have been treated like fools, big game producers make games with the same graphics and people/monsters so that it's not so challenging for them, they can then make an easy profit because they know the name will sell, for example, mario golf/Mario tennis, will many people buy these games? don't think so.
They don't really think about what we want anymore, they run out of ideas and aren't so picky anymore, infact some guy came up to the big boss at nintendo and asked him if he could make a game about an electric mouse! what is happening?

This topic is not original as well. But FF games have never changed despite changing from 2D to 3D. It has always been Turn based and the characters have kept on changing, ever since number 7. The previous ones kept some of the old characters in for the new one. What does change is the stroyline and that's all. Square are gulity of bringing identical games to Final Fantasy.

No matter how people say it out loud developers will continue making these games, making the graphics even better and the storylines different.
Same goes for all those footy games, nothing new has been used except Konami's Career Mode, i expect EA to gladly snatch the idea off them, and say they are geniuses.

I can see some genres boring their followers so they will go on to another game. F1 games have already been slated as the same old thing.
All the Mario games, are original they are no sequels. Despite the name they are no sequels.
If they carry on making, Tomb Raiders, Shen Mue's or Zelda's we will carry on buying them.

If these carries on the future lies in the sequel area of gaming, to show they can do something else than Goldeneye clones, Final Fantasy Clones and all the games you can think of will gradually get sequels.

Games such as the FF series are great, and they do sell by name, but is that such a bad thing. I am all for original games, but some games like Mario Golf/Tennis will sell because they are GOOD games.
I don't think the name matters very much.
