...paint my car luminous orange and put a "kenwood" sticker in the window. Well, not really.

But if i did want to, i could do, and no-one would have to give me permission. So why don't SR let people have gold names if they want? Just a small fee for the trouble and loosing use of your name for a few days whilst it's in "paintshop" being altered to the new flashy colour. By the looks of these forums right now, i'm guessing they'd make a small fortune!

Surely, the people here who's posts make this place special are known by most people, and don't need to advertise. So why create an opportunity to have the forums bombarded by campaign posts when all it produces in the end is a user who's name is in a different colour? i suspect that most of those who are campaigning right now do it because they want some "Go-Faster-Stripes" for their user name. Why? No-one will listen to you anymore than they did before. Hell, you might even make a few enemies! So why not try and build a reputation as a great poster instead of campaigning for a new set of spoilers?

No offence current notables, though i'd like to imagine that most of you earned your "stripes" through being intelligent posters, not good campaign strategists?

I urge you people to at least try and vote for a notable on the basis of your impressions of people prior to the campaign trail frenzy. Try and remeber that all that changes is the colour of their name. Not their ability to control the spam problem, not how funny and intelligent their posts are.

Just the colour of their name.

So let someone who deserves it have a notable status so that everyone recognises their contribution, but don't base your decision on one post entitled "------->:[]***$££ Vote 'XXXXX' ££$[]:<-------".

Yep i agree, people who campaign are usually people who dont deserve to be notable (no offence to campaigners, we are all special in our own way) because they have to actively draw attention to themselves. Notables are usually people whos posts are seeked and enjoyed by most people.

all i figure is that "candidates" shuld be devoting their time to showing us why they deserve votes, not telling us. So can we have more normal posts please?

Couldn't agree more, there are so many people asking people to vote them and getting friends to vote them and that isn't what it is all about. It is supposed to be someone who "Makes the future of gaming forum a special place" so many people in the sony forum are voting people who they know from there etc.
Vote for someone who deserves it, who makes fog chat worth reading and replying too and generally offers something special they have to the forum. NOT someone who says they will vote you, who writes a few decent topics and is your friend.

Well said.

The real people in with a chance of Notablism (Venom, Monkey_man, SSXPro, MWA and more) haven't asked people to vote for them, because they don't have to.

Pay attention other regulars, this man speaks wise words (not me, the person who started this thread, obviously).
