Hi, how's the console sales at your store? How's X Box doing?
"It's not reaching Microsoft's expectations, sales haven't been that bad, but they could be and should be a lot better."
What about the price reduction?
"Everybody seemed to buy it when it came down in price or at full price knowing that they could get free games and a pad, but sales have slowed a lot."
Hmmm, X Box is a quality console, how's the GameCube selling?
"Not too bad, but we've still got consoles left from our initial stock of 60 from launch, probably slightly better than X Box sales right now."
I suppose PS2 is selling better than all then?
"Well yes! Actually the PlayStation 2s are still selling much better than anything else, I don't really know why, but Sony haven't lost many sales to Microsoft or Nintendo."
Currys isn't really a video game specialist though, like Game or EB - so your sales might not really show a true trend?
"Ummm, I don't know, but we can offer you 0% finance on a brand new Sony Wega widescreen over 12 months, it's just £1299.95 for the 32 inch latest..."
So there you have it.
If console wars are about sales then the PS2 - we take our hats off to you.
All Microsoft have released is the percentage of sales of next gen sales they had in a particular week last month.
load of crap really.
Why aint they releasing any hard sales figures? (rhetorical qestion)
Anyway, I can forsee the X Box 'doing a Dreamcast' sadly. It offers the best games, best graphics, best features, but all of them HAVE been done before. In the USA the Price of X Box is about to plummit to $200 - same as the GameCube, (£135 ish).
Why are the games so expensive, why did we pay full whack and still not received the 2 free games or pad - and why don't Microsoft update their site?
Who even cares that Munch's Oddysee is ONLY ON XBOX - what the hell even is it!
On a steadier note, Nintendo releases sales figures for their Cube - if Microsoft don't release some kind of stats, we can be sure that they're way behind.
> WHSmith refuse to sell ANY X Box material.
>
> Maybe they think it's about pornographic cardboard?
I would have thought that would improve sales...
