I have a set of creative 5300 5.1 speakers for my pc and was wondering if they can be used with the PS2? There are 3 connections on the back and they match the ones on the back of my soundcard, so is there a way of adapting them to work with my PS2?
does the 5300 speakers includ a decoder/amplifier unit if so then the answer yes but i have a feeling they are an analogue set as from your post it sounds like you mean there are 3 3.5mm jack plug sockets which would be inputs as all soundcards have the same sockets and are 3 outputs(I,m assuming you have a 5.1 card like the SB5.1 or the sonicfury e.t.c)so you could connect them with the right lead but only the front L&R satellites would work which means no sub-woofer so your t.v would sound better)The only solutions I can think of are1:But a dolby digital decoder or get one of the soundblaster platinum range, you could then output the audio from your ps2 to the r.c.a in sockets on the p.c and then output(simulated)pro-logic or if you had the sounblaster exdigy then you could output a digital signal from the ps2, but the cheapest option is probably the decoder
